5k – 37:30
10k – 1:15:00
Half – 2:30:00

Total allotted moving time that I've given myself is 9 hours, 22 minutes, and 30 seconds.  Land speed records will not be broken.  Here is my own pledge, all proceeds to Jimbo, a friend of Jesus .

- $2 per mile, which I’ll round up to a total of $100 when all miles are completed.
- $50 per time goal met
- $100 if I come in under my total allotted moving time

So, if all criteria are met, that’ll be $400 total from me.  I'm very confident in the first three races, but admittedly 5 hours might be optimistic for the marathon.  We shall see though!

I'll update this post continually with any new pledges as they roll in:  In the interest of tidiness, I'd prefer you pm me any pledges, and I'll tag you and quote the pertinent details.  Donation period will stay open throughout the races as I see no need to put a deadline on it.  And I'll post results and other fun quips on a daily basis!

Hi everyone!  First off, just want to say how incredible this effort has been, we're going to cruise past that $30k mark easy!

Fly out day is early Tuesday morning, so I wanted to make one more plug for the running challenge before we hit the road (quoted the original post from page 4).  No amount is too small.  Also, since I may have trouble staying on top of my PMs, anyone else wishing to contribute can also just post in the thread and tag me, and I'll update the page 4 post as time permits.  So as not to clutter this thread, I'll post my time and photo updates to my event journal, which can be found here:

Okay, guys, this one is a Big Swinging Deal;  A near-perfect copy of Batman Damned #1 CGC 9.9 White Pages.  CGC note : "1st Black Label Title", but it does not fully cover the ground-shaking importance & significance of this book....which is really THE VERY FIRST AND ONLY APPEARANCE OF "THE BAT-WANG!".   That's right, and let me say this again, THE FIRST AND ONLY appearance of The Bat Wang!!!  This book had a 2nd print, and the Bat Wang was overshadowed for sensitive eyes. 

This is truly a Collector's Item Classic.  Do not miss out.  Just imagine if the next BATMAN movie is bold enough to introduce "The Bat-Wang".....well, then this book will just shoot up like a rocket.

It's actually just one panel, but it's still its 1st & only appearance.  I don't think DC will ever reprint it in its entirety.  It probably should've been 4 panels side-by-side....if you know what I mean.

Odd Couple Lot: Farmer's Daughter #4 (fair-) and Web of Mystery #12 (G/VG):  $150  $175 $200 shipped in US.

Farmer's Daughter #4 (fair-): You can see the various tears and missing pieces from scan; cover appears to be loose, spine mostly there, spine fragile (book can be safely handled), and centerfold loose from bottom staple.  Solid "Reader Copy" - classic beat, but complete!

 

Web of Mystery #12 (G/VG):  Book looks to be VG+, big defect is a 3.5" tear in from right edge ("Fortunes" text) in center FC (surprisingly not taped or sealed); two creases LRHC FC and spine wear.

Pretty quiet in thread - maybe everyone's at New Year's parties!    Time for another price cut in case anyone wants to do some buzzed New Year's buying!!

A few people said they would be posting books this week. I hope that happens because we are inches from our Goal of $30k (or more, of course;) 

If you have listed something as a donation and it has not been taken, it's not because it's not wonderful...probably a mixture of 
"a relatively small group of people." or perhaps people would love to see something a tiny bit lower...because at charity sales, sometimes people want to donate, but also want a bargain.

I'd like to get to the next increment, so I'm going to buy a "bargain".. I've been waiting for someone else to grab it;)

Happy New Year, one and all! This community has done something remarkable in buoying James during his health crisis.

To the tune of almost $30,000.00, boardies have donated wonderful items, some with substantial monetary value and collector interest, and others opened their wallets to snag something unique and, more important, to help jimbo (a friend of jesus) .

Along the way, many people have shared how James enriched their hobbies by offering hard-to-find comics, nuggets of comics history, and his friendly demeanor.

So let's close this out and push our way to $30,000.00. Anyone who has helped a love one recover from a serious health crisis knows that @jimjum12 has a long road ahead. It's hard work, both physically and mentally, and with the life complications outlined in this thread's first post, our generosity will go a long way towards helping him recover his health and resume normalcy.
