Whis hotel is usually the best to stay at for Baltimore? Going for the first time this year..

It really depends on your budget and if you want to stay in the immediate area.  Last year I stayed a bit south at a great place for $90 a night with free parking and a breakfast but it was a 15 minute drive to and from.  I've stayed at the Hyatt and the Sheraton and they are nice with a walkway to and from the convention which is nice if it rains.  Orbitz has both of those in the $200 a night range but remember it doesn't include parking which is expensive in the area so you will probably add $40 a night to park.  I have not had much issues with walking around in a small group at night but some have reported it being sketchy as you get away from the immediate area surrounding the convention center so keep that in mind when you see cheap parking 4 or 5 blocks away.

Yeah ive heard the same. Im def wanting to stay within the intermediate area. Just didnt know if they did a "sponsered hotel" like Heroes does with the westin.

The website says they will release info about preferred hotels a couple months before the Con but I don't remember ever seeing a discount being offered through the event.

Can someone enlighten me about this Con?  Is it a "multimedia" Con masquerading as a Comic-Con like so many others or primarily comics?

Are there usually lots of Gold & Silver Age dealers there?

Anything else a possible first time attendee needs to know?

Thanks.

I made the drive from the Charlotte area last year.  If you're into comics and not as much the other stuff, then go.  Similar to Heroes Con but you'll get many dealers from the northeast that won't make the trip into the Carolinas.

Lots of hard core Silver and Golden dealers come here and lots of buying going on.The big books show up and lots of boxes to dive into not much of cosplay goes on here but i have seen a few in the past. The food is pretty good close by and you  have the harbor right there for some sight seeing (thumbsu

The Ringo Awards

Can someone enlighten me about this Con?  Is it a "multimedia" Con masquerading as a Comic-Con like so many others or primarily comics? Absolutely not like others. One of the last "comic shows" in the United States. The promoter (who is a very good friend of mine) does absolutely NOT want it to be a "pop-culture" "multimedia" con. Only guests there are people with actual real ties to comics - the only person I can remember who was not an active either comic creator or comic show actor on a current show was Lynda Carter.

Are there usually lots of Gold & Silver Age dealers there? Yes. More than almost any other show.

Anything else a possible first time attendee needs to know? 1) If you're going, the Saturday crowd is almost always gargantuan, so just be prepared for long lines if you're only going for one day. 2) The Orioles are good and in town that week so parking will be tough/expensive unless you get there early. 3) Because the Orioles are in town there will be an increased police presence so I really wouldn't worry about the area. 4) Stay in one of the hotels around there if you can get it. The convention released the partner hotels last year in late June. I've stayed at the Lord Baltimore, the Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards and the Sheraton. You might want to find out what is the "official" hotel because there are a lot of parties and drinking events with lots of creators. 5) The Ringo Awards will be Saturday night and is fun if you can get a ticket.

Thanks.

See above. Happy to be your answer guy for Baltimore. I've gone to all of them and run the promoter's table every year. I'm the giant table right in the middle with the red carpet - we will have more comics in our booth than 95% of comic stores in the country and probably more comics in our single booth than will be at most hotel shows this year.
