Does CGC use different graders from Modern Era, to High Value, to Unlimited?

Hey folks

Got a question: does CGC use different graders based on whether you submit a Modern Era, High Value, or Unlimited Value book?

I’ve NEVER gotten a 9.8 from an ME submission, but had alot of 9.8 books from High Value and Unlimited tiers

Just curious because I have some books that I’m getting graded, and thinking of paying extra for them to go to High Value; if there are better graders, that is.

Thanks folks!

While I'd like to think that all the graders at CGC are experts in their respective areas, the high value graders likely have a bit more experience with different types of books...

Thanks hombre!  I had once read that the more seasoned graders tended to the High Value and Unlimited Value tiers, but wanted to run it by some folks who know much better than me here.  Just trying to figure things out.

I’ll likely divide the books up into eras too; I accidentally shipped books from the 70’s with ones from the 90’s, so I expect that may have scrambled the results too.

Technically the graders shouldn't know what tier a book is submitted under, right? But yeah, they have eyes, they can see...

By way of explanation, certain graders are often confined to certain tiers. This actually makes it easier for them to be more efficient, because they're more familiar with the books they're grading and with the common flaws those books may have...

Hate to bother you guys, but I know you two are the local experts here.

In a perfect world CGC would have graders stay in their tiers, so that grading would, at a very minimum stay consistent. The reality is that resources are likely directed where and when needed.

Add in experience and personal taste's (i.e. some may go easier in foxing where other graders may blast it) and you may wind up with inconsistent grades based on who is actually grading the submission.

oooooo!  You just saved me some headache; I had read once that you should try to send books in (if possible) where the books are from the same era.

No, that shouldn't affect anything. They will be returned in 2 separate boxes tho if pre-1975.
