Grottu
Curious how old 3-ring binder holes in a Golden Age comic are treated, ie, would a book get a qualified label or a low-grade blue label? aardvark88 and comicjack
L'Angelo Misterioso
My understanding is these can get green labels if pretty much the only flaw is the binder holes, which isn't uncommon given the binder served as good preservation. I don't have any pictures of examples, but I've seen scans posted here of a few high-grade green label examples with holes. I think a lot of these end up just getting low (.5 - 2.5) blue grades, though. Grottu
LowGradeBronze
Binder holes are damage, regardless of the reason behind them being there, so why would a green label apply?

I’m assuming maybe if the holes interrupt art and story, it’s considered incomplete?

Probably not. I've seen several dozen CGC-certified books that have been 3-hole punched. Not a single one has been deemed to be incomplete. Books that are "otherwise" low grade (below 3.5, like your CA #12) should receive Universal Grades, while copies that are "otherwise" mid/high-grade will typically be awarded Qualified Grades (unless the submitter specifically requests a Blue Label). That Cindy is mine and she’s a beauty. Blue label for sure if that’s it.
Popular Post zzutak
It's a cool book, for sure. At one point, I owned the Tessies from this same set of file/reference copies. Most are exceptionally nice examples, aside from the binder holes. grendelbo, Grottu, aardvark88 and 2 others
OtherEric
I've got a couple EC's that have been hole punched. It's not that uncommon: chevalmeow, Darwination, Grottu and 1 other
