As a fan of Curt Swan art, I too am shocked at this price.  $144K?  Surely a record for Swan art.

I don't know if it's quite a "classic cover" but it's a very well-known and memorable cover from that era. I know many will say that it's way cringey and I've even heard "undisplayable", viewing it as racist and culture appropriating in 2024, but, FFS, it was 1970 people, and it was a then-honest attempt at bridging the racial divide at the time (even if it hasn't aged well since then). I'm not surprised at all personally by the final price; I thought it would go around $150K.

I have several copies of the comic book and the funny thing is that nobody even cared about this book/cover/content until 2016/2017. 

I was picking up high grade copies for $10-15 each, when the book suddenly became collectible for whatever reason.

I remember when it came out, and it struck me as …childish. But then, DC also thought it could liven up sales with checkerboards on their covers.

The Tomb of Terror #15 cover went for $300k.

I had hopes of winning the Bolton Black Dragon #5 cover.  At $33,600, I wasn't even close!

The Corben "Pilgor Works His Work" painting went for $78k.

The Ditko ASM #29 page went for $42k.  I was curious how people would price this, as it's Ditko, but there's no character in costume, but lots of images of PP and clear images of JJJ and Aunt May.

The Hal Foster Tarzan 1932 Sunday went for $45,600, which really shocked me.  It's a relatively early piece with lots of great images of Tarzan in action, but still.  Wow!

The Frazetta comic strips went for relatively cheap, no doubt because of a lack of any real Frazetta femmes.

The Lloyd "V for Vendetta" page went for $66k!  Much higher than any price I recall for a V page at Heritage.  Is that a record from the series?

The Raymond Jungle Jim & Flash Gordon Sunday went for $78k, which seemed about right (maybe a little light) for this piece.

The Groening Life in Hell strip went for $21,600.  I really wanted this one, as I loved the strip when it used to run in alternative papers back in the 80s, before he became world famous, but no dice.
