Do you trust Ebay members with Private feedback?

45 posts in this topic

Sorry, not sure if this post is okay for this forum-but it kind of relates

Would you trust buying from an ebay member that has a private feedback rating?

What about if that feedback rating was over 100 feeback points, and 100% positive but it was still private?

Why would you make your feedback private, if you had 100% positive?

I don't usually trust people with private feedback. Don't think I've ever bought anything from someone who has it (too many people like myself out there that you have to be careful of). confused-smiley-013.gif

Many people are afraid to leave a negative for fear of retialitory feedback. But some people will include a note in a positive...such as "Received item. Packaged well but overgraded".

If I see feedback like this, regardless of the rating, I will probably stear clear of them. So, this could be just one reason why someone with a 100% positive rating might make their feedback private.

That seller has been discussed before. He's a scammer. Esquirecomics is a lawyer on the boards and is currently pursuing legal action against this seller for another board member. Read here:

There is no positive reason for private feedback or private bidders.

All the excuses -- privacy of bidders, prevent spammers, etc -- are pure bull.

Some sellers argue in favor of private bidding stating that that other auctions such as Sothebys, Christies, etc are in effect "private." True. But these established and reputable auction houses have earned the trust that is required with a private auction.

The same can't be said with unknown [and likely shady] ebay sellers.

Hey all - I have recently won 3 separate auction from the Ebay seller in question. I'm from NYC - he's from NYC and in the auctions he states that the books can be picked up.

Needless to say, its been 2 weeks and several messages later and I still have no books. I did get a reply saying that he will mail them to be at no extra charge, its been two days since then, so let's see. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I never trusted anyone with private feedback, but this guy was selling loads of raw ASM and had multiple bids on most items. makepoint.gif Anyway, I will keep everyone posted on what happens.

Luckily - the books I won were ultra inexpensive. Total cost $5.00. A $5.00 lesson may go a long way for me, so no big worries. It's just the principle of feeling cheated. I'm hoping to get my books by the end of the week. 893crossfingers-thumb.gif
