Restored Corners: Cut 'em or leave 'em

6 posts in this topic

I just purchased a Green lantern 1 SA on ebay and it arrived with the corners replaced and glued and repainted with what looks like colored white out. I was wondering would it be better to remove the corners or not for grading purposes. foreheadslap.gif The top corner would need about a 1/2 inch taken and the bottom about 1 inch. The comic on its other merits would be about a 4 - 4.5. Thanks for any help.

Definately return it if it was sold as unrestored. It doesn't even sound like professional restoration... more like a Richie Muchin spackle job.

Also, tearing off the restored corners probably won't remove all the restoration on the book. So, you'd still have a PLOD but with torn-off corners. frown.gif

The only real options are 1) Return it, 2) send it to a real resto professional for evaluation and/or resto removal, or 3) leave it alone.
