1ST Appearence or 1st issue comic ?

we need to form a commitee for the "Rights of hulk 180 and ASM 299." We can spread the word to all of the collectors and non collectors and possibly get them to change their minds about the TRUE first appearance of these characters. This is after we buy up all the 180's and 299's we can find! devil.gif

So you got no love for Web Of Spider-Man #18 -- the true 1st appearance of Venom?

AFTER we buy up every copy of Web 18....sure thing! thumbsup2.gif

There is no doubt that the characters first appeared in these issues, but we are only talking one panel. So it really is only an image, almost an advert really, rather than the characters themselves. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

hence why we distinguish between "brief appearance" and "full appearance." Not really a difficult concept to understand.

Neither is trolling Timulty. tongue.gif

Neither is you pretending to be a girl on comic message board.

I remember a rumor about a Venom-like "appearance" in Web of Spider-Man #2...

anyone else remember what that was about?

(Spidey-sense failing... or something...)

Amazing Spider-Man 299 or Amazing Spider-Man 300 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

You actually mean Web of Spider-Man #18 don't you? Where the hand of Eddie Brock pushes Peter Parker (with no Spidey-sense to detect Eddie/Venom) in front of a train? smile.gif

Wouldn't Amazing Spider-Man #252 be the TRUE 1st appearance of Venom? It came out before Secret Wars #8, and that black costume IS the symbiote...

No, because Venom is the union of Eddie Brock and the Symbiote. Not the symbiote alone. gossip.gif

You didn't actually SEE Venom though did you? So how can it be his first appearance? confused-smiley-013.gif893scratchchin-thumb.gif

The first full appearence of Galactus is worh so much more than the 1st brief appearence,or not

It is the first full appearence of the Silver Surfer in FF 48 that makes it more valuable than FF 49, nothing to do with Galactus. So not a good example.

The previously illustrated ASM 299 vs 300 and Hulk 180 vs 181 are much better examples of how the market treats full appearances vs brief ones. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

But, shouldn't the FF #49 be of more value both in dollars and in historical value versus the FF #50? confused-smiley-013.gif But not so, it seems because the #50 is the better looking cover it is worth more. I'd go for the 1st full Galactus myself.

Im just trying to think of an instance where a first issue of a series is worth more than a first apperance of the same character/s. The only one i could think of is Gen 13 #1 being worth more than Deathmate Black. Even 10 years ago when Gen 13 #1 was going for $80 you could still pick up a Deathmate Black for 3 bucks.

True, but wasn't it explained later that WOS #18 and WOS #20 (where Peter was on the side of a building changing to Spidey when a hand grabs him and knocks him off) were Venom's first "test runs" with the Venom symbiote? Can those really be considered appearances?
