27 posts in this topic

The following is a list of guests that have been confirmed and announced for the upcoming New York Comic-Con.

Many Signature Series member dealers will be in attendance at this event, and if you are interested in contacting them in advance about sending their books in for signing you had best contact them AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

However, if you are attending the event. Drop by the CGC booth and speak to me (KEVIN BOYD) about submitting your books directly to CGC to arrange for having your books signed at the show and submitted for graded and encapsulation by CGC (sorry, not done on site - books will go to Sarasota and mailed back to you within the estimated turn-around times.

We will make all attempts to get your books signed for you at this event. As with all events, the bigger the guest the tougher the guarantee that your books will be signed at the event. Obviously at this event there are opportunities for multiple creator signatures. Please speak with me directly at the event about this as there are additional costs involved in obtaining multiple signatures.

There will be some special creator signings at the CGC booth. I'll have more on those later.

GUESTS OF HONOUR:

Neal Adams is known for his highly naturalistic style of illustration. He has helped create some of the definitive modern imagery of the DC Comics characters Batman, Green Lantern and others. His use of contemporary illustration techniques and novel approach to page composition, color, covers, and subject matter breathed new life and realism into comics. A relentless lobbyist and campaigner for creators’ rights, Adams spearheaded royalties, the return of original art, and he continues to address issues of reasonable compensation for comic creators as an ongoing life mission.

Brian Michael Bendis - is a comic book writer and artist who has won five Eisner Awards. He is one of the highest-selling comic book writers in the industry, shooting to stardom as a writer of Marvel Comics superhero books such as Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, and New Avengers. Jim Lee, an acclaimed comic book illustrator, was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1964. He lives in La Jolla, California with his wife Angie and three daughters.

Todd McFarlane began drawing comic book heroes in high school. He began to submit drawings to editors at a variety of comic book companies. After receiveing over 700 rejection letters, McFarlane's big break came just a few weeks before he graduated from college in March of 1984. Todd accepted a job offer from Mavel/Epic Comic penciling "Scorpio Rose, " an eleven-page back-up story in the comic book 'Coyote.' He eventually worked his way to the top of Marvel's artist roster. Marvel gave McFarlane a title that he soley could write, pencil, and ink: 'Spider-Man.' 'Spider-Man' #1 was shipped to stores in Spetember 1990, and became the best-selling comic book of all time, selling more than 2.5 million copies. Following this incredible success, McFarlane decided to leave both Spider-Man and Marvel in August, 1991, to form his own publishing company: Image Comics.

Brad Meltzer is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Tenth Justice, Dead Even, The First Counsel, The Millionaires and The Zero Game. Raised in Brooklyn and Miami, Brad is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Columbia Law School. The Tenth Justice was his first published work and became an instant New York Times bestseller. Dead Even followed a year later and also hit the New York Times bestseller list. The First Counsel came next, which was about a White House lawyer dating the President's daughter, then The Millionaires, which was about two brothers who steal money and go on the run. His newest novel, The Zero Game, is about two Congressional staffers who are -- literally -- gambling on Congress, and is published by Warner Books. Brad is also one of the co-creators of the TV show, Jack & Bobby -- about two young brothers, one of whom will one day grow up to be President -- and the number one selling author of the critically acclaimed comic book, Identity Crisis, a murder mystery with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. His books have a total of almost six million copies in print, have spent over eight months on the bestseller lists, and have been translated into over a dozen languages, from Hebrew to Bulgarian. Brad currently lives in Florida with his wife (and high school sweetheart), Cori, who's also an attorney.

Daniel Acuña was born in October 1974 in Aguilas, a little village in Murcia (Spain), where he's still living today. He's been working quite successfully for the European market in the last years, and last year he published the album "Claus & Simon: Rois de l'evasion", which has been very recently published by Heavy Metal in the United States. The impact he's had as a cover artist makes difficult to believe that he's been doing it for less than a year, in books like Outsiders, JLA, the Captain Universe series of one-shots and Doc Samson (those last two for marvel). Right now he's working on the covers for a new project called Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Blüdhaven and on his first project as interior artist for the USA, a project that will be announced the week of NY Comic Con. He's a proud member of the "Spanish Inquisition" group of artists, or so he says.

Other roles include Chrono in Chrono Crusade, Negi Springfield in Negima, Heihachi in Samurai 7, Satoshi Hiwatari in DNAngel, Tsuyoshi in Kodocha, Leo in Ghost Stories, and Gau Ban in Shadow Skill. He can also be heard in many other anime titles such as Super Gals, Spiral, Macross, Mythical Detective Loki, Burst Angel, Gravion, Godanner, Pretear, Full Metal Panic, and E's Otherwise. He started working in the USA comics industry doing a short Spyboy story for Dark Horse, plus the miniseries Joker Vs. Mask. After that, he was doing Star Wars comics for the same company for a while (Jedi Vs. Sith, Last Stand on Ord Mantell, Jango fett: open seasons, etc.), before working on Gen-13 for Wildstorm, and the 12 issue saga "City of Crime" for DC's Detective Comics. After that, he got Marvel's call to work on Generation-M, a five issue miniseries he's recently finished. Right now, he's about to star working on a yet top secret and very "high profile" for marvel, which will be announced the week of NY Comic Con. He's yet another proud member of the "Spanish Inquisition" group of artists.

Recently, he has inked Majestic for Wildstorm, and he's just started working on the "One Year Later" Nightwing, inking Joe Dodd. He'll also ink Al Barrionuevo on his yet unnamed new book for DC Comics. He's one proud guy, but he says it's for being a member of the "Spanish Inquisition" group of artists.

Mark Bagely -Has been penciling comics professionally for about 20 years...After high school he joined the army for 3 years..then worked as a carpenter and then at Lockheed as a technical illustrator for a few years. That led to Amazing Spider-Man whichhe drew for 5 years. He then did the Thunderbolts for 50 or so issues which led him to his current gig of Ultimate Spider-Man.He lives in Georgia with his wife Pattie, a dog and a cat.

Al Barrionuevo was born in La Plata, Argentina, but he's been leaving in Barcelona for the last few years. His professional work for DC Comics were two issues of the former incarnation of the Legion of Superheroes, LEGION #17 & #18.
