What type of grading color is this and what does it mean?

 

That is a red modern label. Initially, CGC slabbed books from 1975 and later in these colour labels but decided over a year ago to discontinue the practice. Now, they are slabbed with blue labels unless it is considered restored (purple) or qualified (green)!

That is the old CGC Modern Grade. It used to be used in the early days of CGC. Think of it as being a Universal Blue grade.

CGC's early days for modern books were the red label, now it's been changed to the universal blue label....some speculate that red label books are undergraded.

Just the label used before the Blue Universal label was introduced. What does it mean? Some might say that it represents STRICTER GRADING.....

CGC Modern, they no longer use this label. All books from the modern age now receive a blue Universal label.

CGC should really make a little sticky thread at the top of this forum that explains what that damned red label means.
