How does PGX compare gradewise to CGC?

My apologies if this is a topic that has been discussed to death, my searches so far have turned up nothing and I thought it would be easier to just ask the question.

I am considering purchasing a book that is the grade I am after, but it is PGX and I was curious how they as a company compare gradewise with CGC?

Any comments?

Amazingly, this has never come up before! You'd think it might have.

 

For moderns you'll probably be fine. For older books, the fact that PGX is a one-man operation without an experienced restoration expert could come into play.

I found myself receiving grades 2 levels lower quite consistantly with PGX, with a 10 % chance I guessed one right. With CGC my grades were right on the mark. Although I've been reading that CGC may have tighten up their grading a tad recently...

here's an earlier thread discussing differences and comparing the two.. I've used both companies, and find them fairly similiar on grading, but I've only submitted GA and Bronze books, I hear on moderns that PGX is tougher..

FFB has stated on more than one occasion that PGX grade fractionally tighter in the higher grades (above 8.0) but are looser in the mid and low grades, regardless of age. I generally agree with that.
