what's that on the front cover?! does it affects the inner page (s)?

 

it looks to be a solid VG...mostly due to that "stain", fadding colours and small ripps/chipping.

The nasty stain and writing really knock it down.

 

A tough call because the impact of stain and writing is very subjective and can vary greatly with location, impact on eye appeal, etc.

Stain, writing and apparant tanning to the inside put this at about a 5-5.5 in my mind.

That little "stain" goes through to the first two pages and stops. My girlfriend thought it was funny that someone wrote "Pat!" along spideys rear. She exclaimed "Thats right, slap that thing."

Staining is going to hurt it a bit. Still think it looks like it is a 5.5

Probably a 6.0. You can only deduct so much for a stain. What would it be without the stain? 7.5 or somewhere around there. I don't see the stain as being so serious to bring it down from the 7.0-8.0 range, to the 4.0-5.0 range. That's about a 3 point deduction out of a possible 10 points!!! Ouch!
