The crazy thing is you don't even have to go that far back to see prices that look tiny by todays standards. Even in the mid 90's prices for OA pages were pretty low.

Even 6 or 7 years ago you could get BA Superhero pages by decent artists for $20/$25 on ebay. I wish I bought more...

I wonder if, at the time, these prices were considered high. $20 - $55 for inside pages of second tier characters probably seemed like a lot of cash in 1978.
