Can anyone identify these characters?

Hi everyone,

 

I play in the World's Largest Trivia Contest to be held this weekend in Wisconsin. There are over 500 teams and about 12,000 players. Unlike quiz shows, participants play from their home and can use any means to answer questions, including the internet. However, that means the questions are really tough (generally Google-proof). There are no cash prizes (only pride is at stake).

 

One category of questions involves identifying characters from pictures printed in a registration booklet. There are several comic/cartoon pictures this year. I have posted them below. I know #1 is a Robert Crumb illustration and #3 is a Jack Davis illustration, but I don't know the characters depicted. Anyone care to take a shot at identifying these? Thanks for the help.
