It was probably used in conjunction with the video game...

Acclaim was known to include comics with some (computer) games,

especially when video game boxes were large enough to include full-sized comics.

 

Other times, a comic might accompany a strategy guide, or just get put on the counter

at the Electronics Boutiques (or similar stores).

 

Print runs were generally high (50,000+), but since non-collectors often had them,

the number remaining in high grade is probably a small fraction of the print run.

(Unsold/undistributed cases of these types of books are likely to exist... somewhere.)

 

This is probably the most intriguing of the Acclaim-related comics...

since it is the only one that includes a "big name" character,

unless you count the Iron Man/X-O Manowar books.

As far as I know this one was a private store giveaway when you purchased the game. Its said to be one of the hardest Spideys to find. They rarely show up and always seem to sell high.

 

There was 2 on ebay I think one was $75 the othe $100something. I was happy to have the chance to grab this one in really high grade.
