Were not dailies going for this amount several years agoi? Seems like the bottom has dropped out on Herriman art. Am I reading this correctly?

 

The Segar Popeye Strip art in this very auction seems to be overtaking Herriman's work. I remember when there was a 5K floor on dailies and 10k on Sundays.

A European collector won this lot.

 

Don't think that many comic collectors understand Krazy Kat. More ppl can associate with Little Nemo in Slumberland. Guess that is why Nemo Sunday originals sell for double or triple Krazy Kat Sundays.

I was also wondering why the piece went for so little. I almost put in what I thought was a lowball bid myself - it was well above the winning bid.

KK Sundays can be had at this level or below. I know of 2 in private hands with asking prices of 6K apiece. I'm holding out for a colored specialty piece myself.
