It reminds me of the part in Tom Wolfe's "Bonfire of the Vanities" where bond salesman Sherman McCoy is trying to explain to his five-year-old daughter what her daddy does for a living. He can't explain, until his wife steps in and puts it this way:

"You see, Daddy didn't bake the cake, and Daddy isn't the one who gets to eat it. But he gets to slice the cake and hand it out. And when he does, little golden crumbs fall off the cake. And Daddy gets to eat those."

Soooo....Daddy gets to keep the pieces that get trimmed from the comic books?

 

The books keep getting passed around, pressed, regraded, upgraded, PQ upgraded.....and each time someone grabs a little more profit until the damn book is a shadow of what it was. It ends up a dried out, dead leaf in a plastic scrapbook.
