What book ENDED the Bronze Age of Comics????

50 posts in this topic

i said it before and i'll say it again, dazzler 1 first direct comic. OK zilla, im waiting for you to bust my balls on this one, all knowing and seeing! 893whatthe.gif893blahblah.gifgrin.gif

I agree with this. Dazzler #1. I'd also maybe throw an honorable mention in for the New Mutants Graphic Novel or even go back a little bit to Contest of Champions. I think Crisis is a little late.

Contest of Champions 893whatthe.gif WOW I had forgotten all about that series, grr now you got me back on Ebay 27_laughing.gif Man thats pullin gone out of left field and jarring the memories to childhood, nice call.

My favorite mini-series of all time and considering it was the first marvel mini-series, that's saying something.

On a pure business level, it paved the way for all the other mini series to test market characters in their own books. Can you say West Coast Avengers?

Maybe this is worthy of a new thread but anyone remember:

Jack of Hearts

Gargoyle

Magik

Hercules (two series)

Some real junk, second rate (or beginner) artists, not so great storytelling...

It wasn't until Miller's Wolverine (IMHO) that they became viable story arcs. I also think it is a format that other publishers took from marvel and had better success with.

Vision

Squadron Supreme (maxi-series though)

...many more I can't remember.

Lots of trash that seemed collectible at the time but are worthless and not so much fun to read:

Iceman

Beauty and the Beast

Kitty Pride and Wolverine

Rawhide Kid

US-1

Secrets Wars 2 (ugh)

Sub-Mariner

Black Panther

I will say I enjoyed Miller's Elektra Saga immensely even if they were reprints

it had to be the new miller covers and the glossy stock. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Is that what Baxter paper is BTW? I always wonder what that means as I stopped collecting new books around that time.

yep yep yep, i stopped after X-Men 1, the multiple, foil, die cut, glow in the dark, gimmick covers was a big turn off, not to mention the porn comics coming out like penthouse and others. confused.gif893naughty-thumb.gif
