Grade this puppy....

It's hard to grade a black cover book from just the cover alone b/c it's hard to see if there's any spine stress. But it looks like a 9.4 from the front.

Appears to be a couple small flaws. Black cover leaves you wondering what isn't visible. Conservative FCG = 9.2 or better.

back looks pretty banged up to be better than 9.0

Front look sreal sharp in the scan but cant see the black details too well

Some damage to cover on the bottom edge, left side. Some also on the top edge near the middle. Can't see much wrong with this at all. Curious as to what that very tiny "stain" is just next to the lower hole at the top staple. On the scan it looks like the very beginnings of rust migration but can't believe it's that on a book like this. It's just too nice. Is it noticeable on the copy? Or is it just because of the size of the scan?

 

Anybody else notice it?

As I said, back covers tell the story on books like these. It's probably a 9.0, but the front looks great.

Looking at the back cover, which has a fair amount of stress I would give the book an 8.5.

It is a very sharp copy however and could easily get a CGC 9.0 on a good day.

I was at 9.2 with the front only, I think unfortunatlly the back brings it down to an 8.0. Still a sharpe book.

Back cover does bring it down a notch....but because its a Marvel 8.5...if it was a DC...7.5
