OT - If you have a choice for Verizon's FIOS - GET IT!!!

I just had Verizon's FIOS set up after using DSL. NIGHT AND DAY!!!!

What speed is your connection? I see that they have 15mbps down/2 mbps up for the same price I pay for about 40% speed with what I have now. Unfortunately, the only broadband I can get at my house is Sprint Broadband Wireless because no one runs broadband cabling across the bridge out to the island.

The range, I believe, is 5 mbps to 15 mpbs. I think I just got 5 because who even really needs that!!! This is for my home connection where I use the Internet for just basic things and there are no teenagers yet!

 

The Verizon tech said VIOS is available in around 7 states now. TX was the test state.

I punted Comcast for internet about a year about... 2 mb connection that was spending almost as much time down as it was up -- 100% POS customer service. I called Verizon and they hooked me up with a 5/2 package for about half the price. To date I have had 0 outages.

 

About 9 months ago they rolled out FIOS TV in my area... that punting sound was me kicking my Dish across the street. Same price, more channels (20 HD channels), 10x better picture quality.
