Bronze Age keys #11-20??

65 posts in this topic

We all know about the top ten Bronze key books. What about 11-20, or so? What would you include? Some of my picks are: Avengers 93, Amazing Adventures 11, Defenders 1 and 10, Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love 1, Sinister House of Secret Love 1 (these two, because I love those horror books), Iron Fist 1, 15 (?), Fantastic Four 112 (?). What would you list? Any of these?

Star Wars 1 (35¢)

HOS 92

DC 100 page Super Spect 5

All Star Western 10

Although I'd Have to include Spidey 121 in there somewhere.

Those aren't the keys, those are the highest priced books. I think Bronze Age KEYS are (no particular order)

Hulk 181

GS X-Men 1

Green Lantern 76

Conan 1

Cerebus 1

ASM 121

ASM 122

ASM 129

X-Men 94

X-Men 108

IMHO.....I think Iron Fist 15 is more "KEY" than IF 14, for almost the same reason that I think PPSS 27 is more "KEY" than DD 158 grin.gif

I'm assuming you're meaning First Issue Special 8, not 1, right? And actually, if we're talking about "keys", a very very strong case needs to be made for X-Men 137.

I used to think PPSS 27 was more of a key than I currently do. But over the years, I've come to think of those two PPSS issues as a bit of an abberation. They don't feel like any of the Miller run despite it being his first work on the character. And, I pick IF 14 as key because of the 1st appearance. I don't see IF 15 as key--instead I pick MTU 53. Unlike the PPSS issues, this issue really has the feel and style of the artist on the character(s) he later became famous for. And it was published before IF 15

Think of it this way................

If JOHN BYRNE didn't draw Marvel Premiere #25, he may NOT have done IF 1-15.

If he didn't draw MTU 53, he may NOT have ended his IF series with such an AMAZING X-men apperance.

WHAT IF.......John Byrne NEVER worked on the X-men 893whatthe.gif

The same goes for PPSS #27 and #28....

WHAT IF........Frank Miller NEVER worked on Daredevil? 893frustrated.gif
