Hostile ebay seller?

81 posts in this topic

However, we are talking about collectors... many would buy from Usama Bin Laden to get the book they "need."

Which is why certain 'selling venues' continue to thrive when everyone's aware of the scams being perpetrated. frustrated.gif

It's pretty pathetic, but we're our own worst enemies, aren't we? screwy.gif

ask the seller questions....

any color touch? rice paper? Coupons clipped? Chipping/brittleness of pages; especially the margins? Browning on inside of covers? Writing on any pages? Stains? If so, what type of stain(s)? creases? # of creases? Do they break color?

all i can think of right now..... tongue.gifpopcorn.gif

Is the book complete (all __ pages--not counting covers--and no coupons cut out)?

Is the cover and centerfold attached at both staples? One staple? Detached?

Is there more than 2 staples in the book?

Any foxing (moldy spots)?

Any rips or folds in the cover or inside pages?

Are the staples rusty?

Is there any insect damage anywhere?

Any restoration at all? (i.e. color touch, re-stapling, pressing, etc)

Are there creases on the covers? Do they break the color?

Any tape on the book?

Any stains on/water damage to the covers/book?

Any pieces/chunks missing from the covers?

Any 3 ring binder punch holes in the book?

Any writing or "invisible" tracing on the cover?

Is the spine split at all? Is the spine rough? Is spine rolled?

Is the cover still glossy or is the finish dull?

Are the pages' color (and cover) white? Off-white/tan? Brown? Brittle?

Does the book smell unusual in any way? (i.e., like mothballs, an attic, moldy, etc.)

Do you use Overstreet and/or CGCgrading standards, and what grade do you assign to this book? (i.e., Fair, Fine, 8.0, 4.5, etc.)

Did you grade the entire book including the back cover?

Do you offer a money back guarantee, or do you sell "as is"?

Please feel free to add any questions that I missed grin.gif

You don't want to make him glutenous with the extra money.

You mean the extra bread, right?

Actually, I think he's on to something there . . . almost along the line of Neatstuff saying, "hey I get calls for books all the time, and I'm gonna take any offer I get unless your bid is higher, so you better not wait until the end of the auction to bid . . ."

I reported the auction to Ebay for "Offering merchandise for sale outside of eBay".

He should really like that. I hope he burns the comic.

Whaddya mean? There's nothing wrong by eBay for offering to close the auction and offer it to the highest bidder . . . it's even one of their form selections . . . 27_laughing.gif

They don't care who wins, as long as they get their cut. sumo.gif
