Bought this at a very high price due to either me drinking too much, or because it rarely comes up for sale anywhere. Paid above FN OPSG for it, looks pretty good...

Don't blame the booze.. I think you made out ok. I know that's in your area of expertise for collecting and I think it's pretty rare to come up for sale too. I'd check census #'s and even slab it. You'll probably have the highest CGC grade if doing so.

Checked the census after your post, there is one Foxhole #2 graded and lucky me it happened to be a 9.0. But I can always claim I have the second highest graded!

It might be a part of my paratrooper run ( a side note really) During my collection of paratrooper books I've noticed a lot of them were Kirby covers. Since this particular book features true war stories by Kirby it might shed some light as to why he draws a lot of those particular covers.

I think you got that book at a pretty reasonable price, as it looks tight and glossy. Would not be shocked if it came back in the 8.0 range.

 

Foxhole is a notoriously hard book to get in grade, and does have something of a cult following... a lot of the story ideas came directly from Kirby's own war-time experiences.

Will do, I was bidding on the #1 they had listed at the same time, but lost. The person who won the #1 emailed me seconds after I outbid them on the #2 asking if I would sell them it for $50 more than what I am paying for it. No deal, keeping this baby. Hopefully the seller doesn't get an email from this guy and cuts me out of my auction, it's happened before.
