Accurate DC Whitman list??

I have a long box full of Whitmans. I'll get around to posting a list one of these days, but I must have all of them at this point - I've been buying them for years. Don't forget the two biggies, the Superman vs. Muhammed Ali All New Collectors Edition and the Superman 1 Limited Collectors Edition books.

WOOHOOOO! Scans galore! 893applaud-thumb.gif

You rock, DD! I"ll get them all in place ASAP. Once we get close to having all the scans, and I get all the thumbnails in place, then I'll start working on the fullsize pics.

I'm currently entertaining the notion of doing the same thing with the Marvel 30 & 35 cent variants. Do you guys know if there is already a cover gallery on the net dedicated to them? All I've been able to find so far is just lists with a few pics.

No, there isn't a 30 or 35 cent cover gallery as of yet. Several members of this board have complete sets of the 30 cent variants (I'm 20 away from the set) and quite a few are close to a complete 35 cent variant set so finding the scans should be relatively easy here. Go for it! yay.gif

P.S. remember to replace the current DC Comics Presents #1 with the actual #1 that DD provided.

B&B 152

DC Presents 21

Legion 266

Superman 335

Super Friends 14

& WW 251, 255, 257, 259, and 264

are all for sale with scans on Milehigh.

They also have a scan of Sgt Rock 329, but none in stock.

They have a scan of Super Friends 4, which I did not see on the Word Format list from the STL Comics website.

I am sure they have more scans, but was only noting books in stock.

Don't know if this helps-- confused-smiley-013.gif

I actually have used a few of mile high's scans, but they put their logo on everything, and I want the pics to be without it. I've been retouching the scans to take the logo out, but that takes forever. If we get really desperate for soem of them, that's what I'll do, but it will be a last ditch effort.

Once I get DD's newest batch of stuff put up, I'll come back and put up a new list of what's still missing.

The Supefriends #4 Whitman that Mile High has up is actually #16. Good find on the Sgt. Rock Whitman Harry... I was starting to think my list was wrong.

I think it a bit odd that Whitman took out the issue numbers on all the variants but left in the price on the later issues even though they all sold in polybags as sets. Any ideas why?

maybe later they actually sold them in the packs for comboned cover price or less? in the earlier books, they were sold in 3 for $1.00 packs so if they put the 30 cents on the cover, folks would "feel" like they were getting ripped off 10 cents? confused-smiley-013.gif

I'm not sure why they covered up the prices, but it is obvious they did a sloppy job on many of them. On some of them the price is covered up, but not all of the box around the price. You can see bits of them sticking out under the whitman logos.

Here's an update on what's still missing from the gallery. Some of them are scans that I'm working on. Not all of DD's stuff could go right in. It will take me a while to get them all retouched, including the stuff I'm getting from mile high.
