not sure how many issues you've read of Fear Agent but give a chance the story really develops thumbsup2.gif

Got issues 1, 2, 7 and 8. Maybe if i get the 3-6 it'll come together better.

It will absolutely come together if you pick up those missing issues thumbsup2.gif

Here's a few normal Marvel/DC titles most people don't mention that have been excellent and aren't too far along in numbering:

Captain America (Vol. 5?)

Superman/Batman

Ultimate Fantastic Four

Three of my favorite reads every month. thumbsup2.gif

I've got a signed #1 and then 4-8 in my for sale thread. You'll get a couple doubles but the price is extremely right.

Best series no one is reading is supergirl and the legion of super-heroes. You can pick up both trades and read a really good waid story with super art by kitson.

Glad someone else likes ExMachina. Seems like so many people hate the political nature of the book.

Oh man, yet another showing that Fear Agent 3 &4 are in low print (6000 total copies). You should probably snag that lot from Pirate (doh, the third time I pimped his product. Bad clown, bad clown!).

I'm reading it since #1!!!. It's a solid run since the first issue.

Y The Last Man it's an amazing read. I've read the first 3 TPBs and I'm wondering how this title keeps building up in next issues...

In the superheroe field, 52 is a good read too.

There are about 3 or 4 recent threads like this if you scroll through past posts so you can see more (and the same) suggestions.

My favorite book right now is Shaolin Cowboy. It's Geof Darrow and it's awesome. I reread the 6 issues this week and it's just so frickin' weird and violent and funny and gross that I can't stand it. No idea where it's going, just barely a thread of a plot, but every issue has at least one truly extraodrinary Darrow drawing that should be made into a poster or something. The first issue has a 10-page panoramic progression that has to be seen. I keep meaning to scan them all and paste them together.

I'm also really getting into Planet Hulk (Incredible Hulk 92-present). It's getting better as it goes along.

If you can get Talent #1 for cover price (if it's a first printing) that's a huge bargain. They're going for $20+ on ebay owing to the fact that it's been optioned for a movie already.

I gotta second the vote for Planet Hulk also! The current ish. # 100 was cool as the heroes back on Earth are starting to realize the big guy just might be coming back. Reed had that "Oh *spoon*!" look on his face! thumbsup2.gif

Shaolin Cowboy, while I am enjoying it for now seems to be made up on the spot with no plot at all (so far). confused-smiley-013.gif

Just to add a few things I haven't seen listed yet:

Surrogates (fairly recent mini series)

DMZ (Vertigo title)

Nextwave (It's not for everyone, but the first issue might be worth a look at least. I thought it was very funny.)

Supermarket (another recent mini series - written by the same guy that writes DMZ. Again depends on what you like, but I think it's worth a look. Plus, the artwork is very nice.)

Ex Machina (same writer as Y)

Books currently at the top of my reading list are:

Fell

Walking Dead

Daredevil

Y: The Last Man

Mouse Guard

Fear Agent

Planetary is one of the best although it is finished. Also really enjoy All-Star Superman.

Batman written by Morrison looks like it might be alright, still haven't quite made up my mind.

Shaolin Cowboy is just straight comedy. I am getting tired of that stupid head villian. But the sharks were simply fantastic. I agree that the plot can be weak. Just seems like no focus. But the end of #6 was pretty interesting.

Alec, good call on Supermarket. I loved the story and art. Even the look & feel of the covers was perfect for the series.

When people started mentioning Talent, I thought they were referring to Tarot. AHAHA, that porno-esque comic. Seems like Tarot pulls some decent cash due to low print runs too.

I highly recommend reading these moderns:

GI-Joe: America's Elite # 1-14 (Devils Due Publishing)

GI-Joe: An American Hero # 1-25 (Image Comics) and # 26 on (Devils Due Publishing)

The Oz / Wonderland Chronicals # 1 (Buymetoys.com exclusive)

All of these are good reads and fun to collect too. Lots of Variants. thumbsup2.gif

Please, ..tell me I'm not the "first" person to mention these great modern books. sumo.gif

Currently digging:

Green Lantern

Detective (Paul Dini's writing is fantastic!)

G.I. Joe-America's Elite (Absolutely awesome!)

52

Jonah Hex (Palmiotti and Grey are rocking this book!)

Painkiller Jane (I know the mini is over-but it was awesome and still on the shelf!)

The Boys

Dusty Star

Tales of the Unexpected (Great Spectre storyline and Dr. 13 by Azzarello!)

All bad......

Batman- I regret having a CGC subscription now that Grant Morrison has turned me off on the book. Really liked Judd Winick's run...oh well!

Wow, my list would be the exact opposite of yours. I liked Winnick but am digging Morrison's run on Bats. With the exception of 52 and maybe Detective, I find the rest of your list underwhelming.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess... thumbsup2.gif
