Funny Stuff 64, Jan-Feb 1952.

Very nice DC funny animal book (esp. for a buck).

The Dodo and the Frog by Otto Feuer (probably), but I like Bo Bunny by Sheldon Mayer even better.

I'm always looking for an excuse to jump-start the Short Bus!

Here's a dirty book from a recent purchase. I don't expect much (worship)(worship) for it on the cigar thread.

Feature Book 34 from David McCay.

1939-40 Chic Young Blondie reprints, plus a biography of Young inside the front cover. Does anyone know the publication date? It's not in the book.

Here's another from the same purchase.

Goofy Comics, Standard, Aug 1947.

Very nice funny animal book for a couple of bucks!

I'm pretty sure that the lead Uncle Pigly story is by Ken Hultgren -- characteristic scalloped panel borders. Stories signed by Lynn Karp, Ken Champin (fun robot story) and Jack Bradbury. Two text story illustrations IDed at GCD as Frazetta. Interesting "silent" story of Adam the monkey by anonymous.

Overstreet says 1940 and The Photo-Journal says 1942. (shrug)

Lessee

*carry the one, divide by two*

must be 'bout 1941.

Thanks,

Cipherin' Jack

All aboard the Short Double Decker!

Cheezy British reprints just posted to the General Cigar thread. Does anyone have information about these? I'm trying to index them for GCD. There is some definite Short Bus material in the Spectre books. I'll try to scan some selections as time allows, but squarebounds are never easy.

Omigosh! Now I understand why Pickle! talks like that :baiting:

You didn't miss much. Blackhawk and Race to the Moon are generally sharp B&W reproduction from good sources so you can appreciate the linework, but the lackluster cover of Spectre 5 is better than the mediocre artwork in those two. (Who is Michael Jay?)

Hey, Short Bus fans!

New DC celebrity books on the Golden Age cigar, DC 10¢ and 12¢ Silver threads!

Here's one of the better covers of the bunch, Adventures of Bob Hope 90 Jan-65.

I like the lookalike robot and the robot dog.

Mort Drucker pencils and inks.

Are we sure that's Drucker? He'd been fired several years earlier by Kanigher and I hadn't heard he did subsequent work for them.

Are "we" sure? I'm not.

Drucker credit is from GCD, which probably means Steven Rowe, Jerry Bails' Who's Who and other experts. It could be an error. Do you think it's Oksner? I'll send a question to GCD if you do.
