Tape Pull

Hey Guys and Gals ..need some input on the issue of tape pulls and how it effects the overall grade of a book. I will use for example a Spidey 2 that I have that is a really nice looking book and would grade about a fine (6.0) but alas it does have the infamous tape pull that is approximately 3/4 long by 1/2 inch wide, I am inclinded to think that this would drop the grade by 1 to 1.5 grade points? but as we al know grading is very subjective so please let me have some feed back on this issue.

Hard to say without knowing how much the pull affects eye appeal, does it lift white or a colored section, etc?

 

Just a ballpark, but your tape pull sounds fairly severe... could knock it down to a 4.5 easily.

Hi Jim, why not scan and post it...but somewhere around 4.5/VG+ does sound about right.
