Am I correct that you didn't have any of the books you consigned pressed? devil.gif

Shhhhh. Don't let anyone know that I am actually the guy who performs all the work for everyone. My outward opinions are merely cover gossip.gif

I knew it! sumo.gif

Thank you Centaur, Point Five, StageDoor and Esquire for your comments and support. We're not trying to set the world on fire here, but just want to build a solid, dependable and thorough system where nice books can be discussed openly. I do support the principles of Open Disclosure and feel that buyers deserve to at least have an idea of what's behind the curtain relating to a book's history. I am not on a crusade to rid the world of unscrupulous activity, but I just think that the market as a whole is better off with increased buyer confidence. That is one of the biggest drivers of selling price!

Regarding reserves, please note that our Minimum's are very low, usually, and when you place a bid you will be alerted as to whether you have not met or met the reserve and whether or not you are the high bidder. If no such message appears, then the lot has no reserve higher than the opening bid.

Great, thanks Chris.

And while we've got your ear, let me re-reiterate how important it is to have a searchable database (with images and pricing) of previous auctions. This archive is what separates Heritage from the rest, in my mind, and is something I'd love to hear that you're committed to having as well.

Again, thanks for participating in this discussion.

Duly noted re: the back scans and the database. We actually have it already for internal research, so I'll need to impress upon the IT guys how valuable it would be for any user to have access. We've got a ways to go, but with this kind of valuable input we'll get there in no time. Thanks!

I completely forgot about the auction. (Plus had no money to participate anyway) But I wish I had. Some of those Golden age books sold dirt cheap.

Are those prices listed on the site the actual prices or do you add 20% to that?

Add 20% to the prices listed. Most books with any liquidity seemed in line. A few are selling at a substantial discount to their prior sales price but I suspect they sold for inflated prices way back when. Books with reserves seem to be fairing the poorest.

That and the fact that far fewer people know of Mastro. For now it is a potential sweet buyer's market.

Yep, those would be mine. frown.gif

Fortunately I'm in no rush to sell. cloud9.gif
