Wow...really? I first read the story in the hospital in 1976 in the "Son of Origins" Fireside book. I got sick a lot as a kid, but damn if that story didn't really stand out and make me feel better.

 

Sadly, it's the best, most on-target issue of the original run (in terms of fidelity to the core concept) until Miller took over. A vastly underrated Marvel key--especially if you can get it for UNDER $100 in low grade!!!
