Detective Comics #27 on ebay

WOW!!! What a copy! This is one of the biggest key issues that has ever been offered on eBay. They state in the description that the minor restoration could be taken off? I've emailed them to see what sort of restoration has been performed on it. Is this true? Could this copy get a blue label by CGC if the restoration was taken off? This could be one of the nicest DEC #27 in the world. Either way... What a copy

Interesting.. look who was the 2nd highest bidder on this book Bidding history I don't think its the same copy.. I can't beleive that it even when for that much money.

I emaild the seller and this is what he wrote back to me..

 

"Book has a small tear seal near the top of the spine. Also there is a

tiny amount of color touch near the staples. 99% of the spine is

free of color touch."

Reading the discription makes me wonder. Why wouldnt the current owner just take the resto off himself and make himself a FORTUNE ? Why advertise it as this is something that the new buyer can do?

I wouldn't even bother having it undone, it's so minor. I can't see there being too much of a stigma attached to such minor restoration. The books only looks to be about a fine to me though.IMHO, no offense to Met. Did they mention the PQ?

That I don't know, I've heard of cases where it could go either way. I wouldn't slab it myself. Then again I'm too cheap to ever buy one of these at full market prices, I'd have to sell a rental and my wife would neuter me.
