Stupid Friday OT Poll

87 posts in this topic

First off, I will say that I am NOT a huge Prince fan, but I truly appreciate the man and his talent. I saw him back in the 90's on a whim, and thought is was a good then... Fast forward 2006, he takes over Club Rio and turns it into a club/restaurant, 3121, and will perform on the weekends, and fill the place with other talent during the week.

I had the chance to see one of his first sets here, and I will tell you it is amazing, especially if you appreciate the talent and effort the guy puts forth. He is an entertainer of the first order, plain and simple. Living in Las Vegas, I get to see A LOT of shows, and thier are only a handful of shows I would actually pay to see..... Prince is one of them. If you are a fan of Prince, or a fan of great entertainment, you have to check this show out.

Niccolò Paganini

Paganini was a violinist. smirk.gif

He was also a guitar player.

Seriously? I never knew. I know he was Yngwie Malmsteen main inspiration. Yngwie started on the violin in Sweden playing classical.

#54 On this list is the great Doc Watson. He was born/raised/lives in the same small area where I was raised in the mountains of North Carolina. The town of Wilkesboro has a yearly festival called Merlefest, named in honor of Doc's son Merle who was killed in a farming accident. Performers from all over the world come to my small hometown for this festival and it draws thousands. I have had the privelege to go several times and you will not see a more intimate festival atmosphere anywhere. Doc is getting really old and doesn't perform very often, plus his blindness limits how much he wants to travel, but he is a true American treasure. Also he invented the style of playing called "flatpicking"

I have got to admit I know nothing about quite a few people on this list.
