I'm thinking of either cracking this "brand x" slab and submitting to CGC or just selling it like it is. Can you estimate the grade for me? Thanks, CycleGirl

Here you can see the grade the book received from PGX. Basically right in line with what you all have given it. I've also included a scan of the back (which I should have included the first time).

 

Based on the estimates I received here, I believe that it would be worthwhile to crack the slab and submit it to CGC. If I get a 5.5 or 6.0, I figure that I'll be ahead in terms of value.

 

I personally have nothing against PGX grading. My experience has been positive, although I certainly don't want to dismiss the issues that have been raised. However, from a financial point-of-view, there is no question that a CGC grade adds significant value. For a book worth over $150, CGC is an easy choice.

I don't see the grade changing, but I'm certainly more confident in CGC's record on finding restoration, which is the primary reason for buying slabbed books of unknown provenance.
