Why happened to the Joker story in Batman #659?

I just read Batman #658, and in the "next issue" blurb at the end, it said John Van Fleet would join writer Grant Morrison for the epic story "The Clown at Midnight". There's even a photo of the cover, prominently showing The Joker.

 

Batman #659 turns out to be part 1 of a 2-part "Grotesk" story by Ostrander & Mandrake.

 

Is Morrison falling behind?
