Hi GA guys. Just got a scanner.....(finally) ...so I thought I'd try posting up a few scans of books I got this last year while I learn to operate the thing. You won't mind looking at more covers.......will you?

I picked up this book from a woman in Pennsylvania who bought estates and then "parted them out". Thats the story, at least as much as I could tell......

I bought this book in 1999 in San Diego at the convention. In 2002 I sold my entire collection including this book which was bought by none other than Frank Brunner, the artist (Doctor Strange etc. ). Well, late in 2007, as my comic fever was being rekindled, the thought came to me to check ebay for Police Comics, and guess what.......Frank was selling some books, this one included !! I bought it back from him after almost 5 years ! I asked him about it and he remembered me and said he was happy that I "loaned" it to him for 5 years. We had a chuckle over that situation.........

I picked this one up by accident. Just one of those books you see and almost absent mindedly toss out a low ball bid. Well, a few days later when the auction was over I saw that I had won!! No one else bid !! So, in spite of some rodent eating the bottom right corner off, and that bit of chipping along the bottom edge......this book is pretty nice and I'm quite happy with it. Its clean and solid with a tight staple.......and oh yea,..........its Plas !! I was thinking that this is the kind of book not soon forgotten.....and that maybe I purchased it from someone here?? ......before I knew who any of you were. Anyone recognize it?

Very nice copies. Jack Cole was able to fully incorporate the character into panels and give him a charm that no one else seemed to be able to do with this character. I love reading his golden age books, but nearly all the Plastic Man/Elongated Man stories DC did later felt lame by comparison.

Yea they did. To me also, there is NO comparisson. Other artists tried to do Plas....but they just couldn't capture it. I think they were trying to draw a "stretchy" hero......but what was missing was the fantastic ability and creativity that was Jack Cole. I think Stan Lee knew that the stretchy hero idea was a winner........with fantastic possibilities......and changed what Cole did (wild humor and fantastic situations and contortions) into a serious stretchy character. It was quite brilliant !! I have no problems with Kirbys Mr. Fantastic. Elongated man however......sucked

This cover gives me the Christmas feeling.....even though its not really a Christmas cover. Must be that tree in the corner.

I Have been really drawn to Cole lately & have been thinking about picking up some police/ Plas. Nice to see these!

The interiors are really the beauty of his work. I really don't understand why he chose the covers he did. Maybe it was some kind of editorial thing at Quality.......or maybe it was just, he didn't have time. Its too bad cuz if he would have done more covers like #'s 25, 26 and 27 .....then this series would be ....SUPER AWESOME !!!

Ok....last one. I don't wanna show you the whole of my Police collection. This book was almost a bad ebay experience......cuz what was advertised.....was not what I got. Old tape on the inside front cover PLUS the staple was tape reinforced by some kid back in the forties (or whenever). When I got it......I complained about it and the description.........and surprisingly was offered to pay what I thought it was worth. I offered $40 less than I won it for.......and he accepted !! I was very surprised!! Today, this is one of my fav books. I can pop it out of the Mylar and read it with almost NO worries.

As a teenager in the 70's....this is one of 3 MM books that I owned. I purchased them from Nick Scotto / The Comic Vendor in So. Cal. and they were in beautiful shape EXCEPT..........yea, except.... they had 3 hole punch holes on the spine edge. At first I was happy to have them.......cuz they were golden age......but after awhile, I started to really dislike the 3 holes (for some reason).....and ended up selling them back to him.

When I saw this book come up for sale last March, in very nice condition from Ihcomics in Kentucky, I fired off a heat seeking missle bid (with 5 seconds left  ) and nailed it for my collection. A little dust shadow on bottom, but look..........NO HOLES !!!

one of my favorite schomburg "busy" covers.

Busy covers is a good way to describe it. The other two I had were Nazi books....still waiting for those to pop up.

Everybody loves Batman.....right?? Well I do too. So I decided that there were just too many Batman books that were out of my price range and I needed to find a realistic group of books that would be challenging yet attainable to my income. I have owned some early Detectives, and really love the look of the large logo books....and decided to start with the last 20 or so of the large logo Detectives (90 - 113)

Bought this book GCG'd at 6.0 from a guy in Indiana. Cracked it as soon as I got it and used the slab for another project (wink wink.... Worldsbestcomics).

Another cool Det book. I bought this one off a seller who I later came to find out lived in my town of Springfield Or. only a couple of years ago. She had since moved up to Port Angeles Washington.......saying that it was getting over populated here in Springfield !! Hahahaha.....me, coming from L.A. and moving to a town of 65,000.......I find nothing over populated about it. Its perfect!! Not only that.....but we have a hospital ;)

The first Det I won after deciding the boundaries of my Batman collection. This one was just a little bit dirty but is sound and whole with tight staples. Somehow this cover reeks of the "Gay Batman" ideology.....and I can't say that I don't see it  Not saying its true.....just saying. I'm glad to have it.

I won two books off this seller from Jersey last summer, but when they arrived I found that one had a detatched cover. When I told the guy about it, he was more than cool, and gave me a complete and total refund PLUS the shipping !!! In talking with him, he said he was a V.Vet and a computer hacker in the service who nowadays just kinda liked to lay low and be quiet. He was sorry about the cover (it was a Det 95). I really liked that one too.......great cover.....but detatched cover is just too much pain for me to deal with. This book is the first issue in the run I am going after for Detective.
