Seeking feedback on my website...

I've managed to get the home page down to a single screen with no scrolling. I'm resisting changing the background color because if it's anything other than black, the background of the logo stands out like a sore thumb. But maybe I just need a new logo anyway. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

The home page definitely feels more inviting this way.

I would, of course, appreciate any other thoughts you might have.
The biggest flaw I can see is that your site doesn't have a high grade Fighting Yank #6 for sale any more. poke2.gif

Your site is good. Simple and easy to navigate. The colors work, the scans are sized okay. Simple is always better.

I agree with most of the comments here.

Another sugestion, search engine optimization. Off the top of my head...

1. Longer, more descriptive title tag

2. meta tag with a site description

3. meta tag with keywords

4. alt text for the photos, especially the logo

5. more keywords on the pages, narrative form

Jay, thanks for the feedback, but what are title tags, meta tags, and alt text?

Thanks,

Jeff

That's code embedded into your webpage that Google and other search engines look for to rank your site to keyword searches.

For example, here are the meta tags from my homepage:

<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="vintage comics, rare comics, collectible comics, mile high comics, old comic books, online comic book store, comics for sale, back issue, dc, marvel, comic book resource, superman, spider-man">

<META NAME="description" CONTENT="ComicSeeker.com is the Internet Comic Book Search Engine. Use the comic search to find rare collectible, vintage comics from the Golden, Silver and Bronze age.">

<META NAME="author" CONTENT="ComicSeeker.com">

<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="ALL">

Frontpage should have an option for this...somewhere.

The title tag is where it says Detective27 comics at the top of your webpage.

alt text for the photos just means adding a line like <img src="imagelocation.com/action1.jpg" width=100 height=100 border=0 alt="A bit of info about the image for people who still use text only browsers or for those who hover over it with their mouse.">

Thanks, guys. I'll look into it.

Funny, we were talking earlier in the thread about how my thumbnails looks kinda fuzzy. I've checked out my site on about 4 computers today, and come to the realization that they only look fuzzy on PCs. They look great on the two macs I viewed them on today. Wonder why that is.

You have to ask why something looks better on a Mac? makepoint.gif

I figured out how to make thumbnails of any size in Frontpage, and that seems to have eliminated the fuzziness factor I had. yay.gif

Looks sweet and no more need to go scrolling around. Sweet. 893applaud-thumb.gif

I enjoyed your site. Very easy to navigate and the colours didn't bother me. Mind you, the colours may start to bother me if I were to spend a lot of time searching and staring at them. Because your books are limited in number right now, it didn't pose a problem at all.

Good luck!!

Andy
