Fight Comics 44 - a plethora of HG issues!

8 posts in this topic

I was looking at the upcoming Heritage auction, and noted the very nice

copy of Fight 44, in 9.4, up for auction.

But it turns out there are 5 copies in 9.4. FIVE FREAKIN COPIES !!

How can there be that many super HG issues for a book from 1946???

Lucky for you this is just a warning gator. Next one won't be corked.

lol - that's the sort of thing we were just talking about in the Mad #1 thread. try 5 copies in 9.8 over there.

Another fun one that springs to mind is Great Comics #1 (1945).

There are at least 10 of those in 9.4

I bought 4 unread copies off a guy on ebay back in the late 90s. The only one I had slabbed got a 9.4. This book is seriously common in high grade (the LB Cole cover, not the older one with "The Great Zarro--which is actually a really cool comic.)

There are a number of titles that turn up frequently in high grade for some reason. I think someone hit upon a warehouse find that didn't make the news (at least in wide circulation). These are the three titles I see most often turning up on eBay in fairly high grades consistently:

Zoo Funnies #2 (Charlton)

Blue Beetle #41 (Fox)

Yellowjacket #8 (Charlton)
