I just received the following e-mail from an individual looking to sell a collection:

"I have The amazing Spider-Man issue #252 as well as Conan The Barbarian issue #6 as wekk as # 23( which is equally valuable)all the way up to issue 273 with doubles and triples, missing only a few issues. included in our collection of over 500 comic books. We are selling the collection of mint condition comics for 2500$[(CDN)]"

Ughhh.... I offered $30 for ASM #252 (if truly NM), and $35 for the collection (just kidding about the $35!!!)

$75 for that is too high. thumbsup2.gif. Maybe $40 (eight cents per unit), if you're aggressive.

You mean they pay you $40 to take it to the dump for them? That might be fair. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

On a side note. Who out there also believes you can get BETTER deals on books FROM DEALERS and COLLECTORS than you can from clueless stranger trying to sell run of the mill books?

I've acquired many of my better books in my inventory from collectors and former store owners. These folks understand the market/hobby and realize that the books they have for sale are FAR from being the only copies in existence and understand the importance of grading.

I do! During the 90's implosion, a lot of comic shops went belly up and inventory went into storage or into someones garage. In the past couple of years I have found several examples of this and was able to buy in quantity at very reasonable prices from former store owners that just wanted to clear out a storage unit. They were aware of Overstreet, eBay, etc. but also remembered how tough the market was for them and they just didn't want to deal with it.

It' funny, but I try telling the dreamers out there that other dealers/store owners sell to each other (in bulk of course) at much more reasonable prices than they are attempting to sell at.

Guess what. They NEVER believe me. confused-smiley-013.gif
