Marvel Masterworks--What Gives?

Folks,

 

I received notice from Amazon.Com that a couple of the new edition Marvel Masterworks I had ordered were out of print. Does anyone know about this? The issues were Captain America #1 and Silver Surfer #1.

 

Personally, I love the hardbound Masterworks books, and I'm looking forward to getting a number of the new editions.

"Greetings from Amazon.com.

 

We are sorry to report that the release of the following

item has been cancelled:

 

Marvel Comics "The Silver Surfer"

 

Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we've

since found that it will not be released after all. Please accept

our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience we have caused you.

 

We have cancelled this item from your order."

 

By the way, I ordered this months ago...

D'oh! Well, hopefully the new Surfer series does well. Maybe some new interest in the character might convince Marvel to print it. Haven't they printed the Surfer in Masterworks format before?

Yes, this is a second or third printing, but all the new Masterworks have been re-colored and improved from the poor quality of the earlier releases. Also, the original printings are very expensive. Why pay a lot for reprints?!
