Well that makes some sense. Since 9/11 Canadians have been told to bring our passports with us whenever we cross the border (before then a driver's license and birth certificate were acceptable).

 

US Immigration (at the airports) isn't eager to let us in without a passport. I guess Canadian immigration is doing the same.

 

If anyone is thinking of coming up, they should consider getting a passport if they don't already have one.

When I went down to Michigan in July they took my wife aside and checked her sandals for explosives (no joke).

 

Getting your passport should be no problem, I got mine in 2 weeks. You can usually speed up the process if you tell them a specific date that you are travelling on.
