NO, this is not a post about the new numerical grading

 

I was wondering if buying a comic with the old label should affect the price?

 

And, also how many of you are going to keep your CGC graded comics in there holders and not get them re-holdered just for the new label?

I seek out and try a little harder to acquire many of the old "Maroon" label books. I feel the later part of them were among the toughest graded.

 

I will personally never pay to have a book re-slabbed just to change the label.

I can see people at some point associating the old label style with the period prior to when CGC "adopted" Overstreet's standards and the new labels with post-Overstreet adoption since both of these changes occurred within a month of each other.

 

What does that really equate to in terms of the grading strictness? I would argue not that much...prior to the update to the Overstreet Grading Guide, CGC was tougher overall than Overstreet was. Now, it's debatable as to which one is tougher.

The label shouldn't matter.....

 

What does seem to matter, for some reason, is cracks to the CGC case. I'm not talking about large fracture lines across the face either, but chips and corner damage.
