spookley
It's definitely selling for more than low 30s. I guarantee it. Rick
spookley
I guarantee it too. I wonder if 50K is out of the realm of possiblities. Like others have said before, if you have just 2 high-rollers that want the book... I don't see why it couldn't go for over $50K... I seem to remember a B&B 28 in high-grade going for somewhere in that ballpark...
spookley
Is anyone else having mixed emotions about the Toth books? It's great that there are such amazing early JLA's out there that look as fresh as some of my bronze age JLA's. But now I am getting tth2----itis. I look at the Toth 9.6 books and then my 9.0 books and..... I am reassessing my collection goals... JLA #1-100 in CGC 9.0 or better (which in itself will cost an arm and a leg) vs. collecting my favorite JLA covers in 9.4/9.6....I'm leaning toward the latter.... There may be some JLA's hitting the market....
spookley
Unfortunately, my entire collection is not worth anywhere near 50K...otherwise...
tth2
But now I am getting tth2----itis. I look at the Toth 9.6 books and then my 9.0 books and..... I am reassessing my collection goals... Don't do it! It's a horrible life!

tth2
Just curious what you guys think a JLA #1 CGC 9.6 would sell for. If it looked deserving of the grade and was well centered, at least $50K. Edited May 10, 2008 by tth2

frankiecastle
i think cheetah is implying he's seen or owns it- after seeing his books, who can doubt him? and i'd weigh in w/ $60k and it'd make the guy that's buying toth's book a little sick to the stomach

It is a very nice set, though.
Aman619
I think a handful of people would like to see a scan in the next 4 days .... if a 9/6 existed it might alter a few bids!
tth2
If there`s a 9.6 copy, it must have been slabbed within the last 10 days, because as of May 1, there was no 9.6 copy in the census.
cheetah
I'm hoping to see the slabs on Wednesday and will take my camera. They are from the same collection as my TTA and TOS books I posted a couple of months ago. They got sold privately a few years back before I ever even knew they existed. Aman619
are we all talking about a JLA#1 in 9.6? or some other copy? The existence of a 9.6 would greatly affect the 9.4 copies.
qualitycomix
JLA 1 9.6 would sell for over 60K. More like 65-70K.
cheetah
JLA 1 1960 CGC 9.6 JLA 2 1961 CGC 9.6 JLA 3 1961 CGC 9.4 I didn't ask about PQ but would expect OW/W based on everything else in the collection.
Aman619
okay, so the question now becomes louder: Does the emergence of these super high grade slabbed SA DC keys that many would have rightly begun to believe did not even exist suggest that there are even more out there? And if so how many? We've all answered the question before, so we know where we stand, but as Shakespeare/Hamlet said: THAT is the question1 9.6 JLA #1 ! the mind boggles. cheetah
I know this collection has the highest graded copies of a number of Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish. It has a truly staggering number of UHG Mad Magazines and Cracked Magazines. Really sad when you figure that AF 15 was issued in the same time period as the rest of the collection. They could have picked up 3-4 AF 15 and ASM 1 but instead loaded up on 35-40 Mads and Crackeds. Still I can't see this story as being so unusual as to prevent it happening hundreds of times elsewhere.
