In 1947, Life Magazine asked a selection of popular comic strip artists to draw their characters blindfolded. Here are the results:

Of all the images from the blindfold artists, I thought Caniff's Steve Canyon and Dagwood were the coolest.

 

There's a great book entitled "Drawing from the right Side of the Brain". One of the exercises is to draw a familiar image but to do so with the image upside down. It's been about15 years since I looked at it but I remember that it really improves one's drawing skills.
