Very good list, but you might want to include Hulk 181 in it.....

 

I also would consider adding (although they're not particularly major contenders) ASM 136, Tec 400 and X-Men 108.

There are also books on the cusp, like Marvel Special Edition 15, Batman 227, ASM 96 & 136, MTU 1, and Daredevil 131, etc. that I don't think quite make the same grade, but are still possibles.

first yeah we should start a new thread for this.

second does anyone have any interest in having scans

of each of the books. we can pm them to JC or whoever is

goanna start it that way people wont post the same scans over and over.

and they can be small scans, half size or even thumbnails. i for one would

like that. anyone else?

Nope, as I don't personally see either of those ranking in the top 25-30 Bronze Age books. I like them, but it's "tough love" time, otherwise you'll be looking at 50-75 books.

Maybe have some sort of groupings ie Miller's DD, Byrnes FF, ASM 120's, to pare down the list? I think the story arcs that are inherent kind of make that plausible. Was this the first time that story arcs were used?

Both Cerebus 1 and ASM are Copper/Modern, while TOD might be one of those "cusp" books. As for grouping by "issue range" or "writer/artist/storyline", doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of the exercise?

 

Some people like ASM 121, while others view 122 as the true key. I think Daredevil 158 (and subsequent issues) are underappreciated, while others view Miller's writing and first Elektra as the defining (and end) point of the BA.

 

This is the problem with one of these things - everyone has their favorites and suddenly we're looking at 75 choices.

I totally agree.. which is why Marvel Spotlight 32 isn't there.
