A Force To Be Recon With...

Even though I am gaining some things at NYCC still doesn't mean I will rest on my laurels with the Force.

This past week has been a huge event and great set pickup for me at NYCC. Gained a few blank covers by Elias Chatzoudis, an Agnes Garbowska, a JSC colored by Sabine Rich, a Multi-Cover Set X-Related titles, and a few random pages from the AvX Series as well as a great page featuring the 1st Uncanny X-Force team even though it is a Deadpool page.

In two weeks I will be having a few New Mutants signed by Rob Liefeld and then sent for pressing and grading courtesy of a gentleman and a scholar Mr. Glynn for my pre-X-Force Set which I fully intend to get each signed by him at some point. Figured its called Liefeld Set anyways so may as well try to get fully signed by him nd a few double sigs along the way. Hoping against hope to maybe squish a 9.9 SS out of any of them but likelyhood of that happening.... yeah. Still a guy can hope.

But even though I have a multitude of things going on I still have the eye on the prize. Blarfingar who held the title and passion for our favorite set has been making moves on trying to get a few more slabs here and there and honestly I hope he keeps it up and eventually just blows by me. Competition brings the best out of people and honestly I couldn't get better or be more invested in doing so if I had no one to keep me in check. Doing so would cause me to rest on my laurels and honestly I would like to put together something that both him and I appreciate not because of its value but because of its significance in our childhood.

With that said I just happened to scan through the old bay and come across a newly slabbed copy of X-Force #99 signed by Cover creator and New Mutants alumni Bill Sienkiewicz as well as Stan Lee. While I could have done without the ummm.... Lee Sig. its still a nice thing to have I guess. Anyways when I first saw it I had to bid. I mean its X-Force and once I checked on it, its a lone OAK as a 9.8SS. Following six of the longest days, a host of email updates, "You've been outbid," and an early morning Alarm set wake up I was able to pull out all the stops... and maybe some that I should have halted on earlier.

Some things just deserve to have caution thrown into the wind and this was one of them. While I can't add it to my Set yet as their is oddly enough no way to, hopefully Nicole can update the numbers and give this one a new home to rest on my Set listing. For your eyes to see and my personal enjoyment to own, I give you my latest ebay pick-up. X-Force #99 9.8SS
