  1. As someone who owns the cover to McFarlane's first interior work (back up story in Coyote), I kind of get it... kind of.
  2. Yeah, first Thanos solo and though the interior is what "matters" the cover can still hold pretty high nostalgia to a collector if the book meant something to them.
  3. And it looks like interior Thanos and Draz story was Mike Zeck first marvel work. I realize that is all interior stuff, but sometimes these things have an effect on the cover in terms of nostalgia.
  4. I think that book has a first or early appearance of someone or something like that. This book is familiar to me for some reason.
  5. Ok, it's one thing when it was at $50, but it's up to $610 now and although not life changing, still a significant amount of money http://www.ebay.com/itm/331707609782?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  6. This one seems like a no brainer and is unfortunately featured on CAF. I assume most know its a scam due to the low bids, but still. Here is the auction in question: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331707609782?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT And here is the same piece being offered by Burkey on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Miller-Frank-WIZARD-MAGAZINE-31-COVER-POSTER-Original-Art-1993-SIN-CITY/111415966431?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DABA.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33861%26meid%3De118b40ddb744c47b585859e4c315d6d%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D331707609782 Surely this one can be taken down easily?
  7. I don't own the first page I ever owned anymore. It was a Herb Trimpe half splash from Shogun Warriors. I paid $25 for it. I think I sold it for $200. I do however, still own the second page I ever bought. Purchased directly from Doug Hazlewood. From one of my favorite indivdual comic issues ever and was so happy to get it... even more so now as pages from that run are getting very hard to find.
  8. Nothing of interest in the April CLink auction so far. Lots of sketches. A lot... and not many by "major" artists at that.
  9. Well, I'm glad it still happens to some of you and it occasionally does still happen to me. I do agree that my collection has grown and I was lucky enough to purchase a couple of the OMG pieces. Nothing like seeing an OMG on ebay with a BIN that is reasonable or better. Imagine the one's we don't see in fact because they've been snatched up before we see them... But there are also many that I used to see and not be able to afford even though they might have been priced reasonably (Batman Cult cover, Long Bow Hunters cover, Cosmic Odyssey cover, No Man's Land Batgirl cover etc. etc.) that I just don't see coming around again... and I just feel like there used to be a lot more of those moments. I do still love the feeling when one of those surfaces though. And again, I'm not talking Heritage and Clink... as I feel it's getting to the point where I'd be disappointed if I didn't have at least 10 wow's... at least in Heritage's case. I mean where do they go from here with all the Watchmen, KJ, McSpidey and DKR pages up for auction in the last year or two?? I guess there are still a TON of older pages out there that I am not that interested in that would make some of the collectors (with very deep pockets) on this board say OMG!! Or Dagnabbit, or whatever the old fogey collectors say
  10. Also of note... I used to have generally between 15-20 auctions on my ebay watch page at any given time and be bidding on two or three. Now I'm lucky if I have 5 in my watch list and bidding on a piece a month.
  11. Maybe it's because I've been in this hobby a little longer now, or maybe it's just the state of the hobby, but when was the last time you saw a piece either on ebay or a CAF Classified gallery (Dealers not included... though even then) and you thought, "OMG, I can't believe that is for sale...SOLD!!!" It used to happen a little more often for me. I wouldn't always win it on ebay, or I would be late to the classified ad, but I did see them more often than I do now. I DO however see more and more of those pieces be presented by the big auction houses. I feel like I used to see a couple of those pieces a week offered publicly (non auction house), but now I'm lucky if I see one or two a month. The Paul Pope Batman cover I won on ebay was the last and probably the Maguire Justice League Poster art Malvin won before that... but I used to see a couple a week. Is my taste range getting smaller or are the "nicer" pieces just going to auction houses because of the great prices being realized? Just thinking out loud.
  12. Since people on these boards seem quite knowledgeable, I have a general "where is it?" question. Does anyone know what is being done with the published OA (MArvel or DC) of Raphael Grampa? I've never seen a published piece of his up for sale. I contacted him through his blog, but received no response. I don't collect much current work, but do like pieces from artists I love (Lemire, Pope) and would love to add something from Grampa to my collection. My suspicion is that it isn't for sale, but thought maybe a board member would know exactly.
  13. Added some pieces to my CAF http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryNew.asp?GCat=9015
  14. Jack of Hearts covers!!!! Now see, THAT is ghost art. Why should those be hard to find.
  15. This started as such an interesting topic, but some people are listing pieces that if you went to CAF and typed them in, they would show up... or they are pieces that I have seen on dealers sites in the last 5 years, or they are pieces that most people know the artist has held on to (Sam Kieth The Maxx). Those aren't GHOSTS. They are just unattainable. To me, Ghosts are pieces that should be easy enough to find and even reasonably (relatively) priced. Though I guess if YOU don't know where it is, it's a GHOST. I found out one of my Ghosts was on ebay in the last 5 years, but I never saw it and haven't since (those are the one's that hurt the most). I guess my current "ghosts" unless some of you can tell me that these are out there are: Gary Frank Supergirl #1 (The guy on CAF who has EVERY Supergirl cover from that series only has one of the Frank one's) Chaykin Suicide Squad #1 cover Spider-Ham One shot cover from the 80's (I can barely even find anything on the artist.) There are others, but those are the main one's. Been looking and asking for years. Would love for someone to put me out of my misery and tell me they are "locked up" in some collection.
