  1. Yeah, there isn't much. I actually owned 3 pages and a cover, but sold them all. All I have left is a promo piece which was the first published Scud work.
  2. I threw in what I thought was a low bid on the Ramos Prime cover and got it for $300. I can't remember the last time I got a cover for $300. I realize it's Prime, but still... Considering it is being put with pieces I've won from other auctions and therefore will save on shipping, I'm happy to have it at that price. Loved Prime.
  3. I used to do the search BIN OA ebay thing three times a day and have come away with some great deals over the years. I haven't even used that saved search in probably 4 or 5 years. I stopped when dealers started flooding that search with their lower end stuff and it just became too much to go through every day and not worth my time. That being said, for someone with the patience, I am sure the odd great deal still pops up from time to time.
  4. Second looks like Butch Guice. First looks familiar, but can't put my finger on it.
  5. Giving this a bump with price updates, because some of these prices are criminally low and auctions end TONIGHT DC Solo #12 page 3 by Brendan McCarthy TWICE UP currently at $34.33 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038253273?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 BATMAN DEATH BY DESIGN page 28 by Dave Taylor currently at $70.37 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038247868?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 X-MEN UNLIMITED #6 Generation X published pin up by Brian Hitch and Cam Smith currently at $265 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038244522?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Havok and Wolverine Meltdown #4 page 18 original painted SPLASH by Kent Williams currently at $455 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038241847?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Anarky #5 page 1 SPLASH TITLE page by Norm Breyfogle currently at $47 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038238689?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 All-New Hawkeye #1 COVER INKS by Ramon Perez currently at $101 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038236730?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 All-New Hawkeye #1 COVER PENCILS by Ramon Perez currently at $103.50 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038235732?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 I mean I am CONSTANTLY reading on here about how you can't get a Marvel or DC published cover for less than $500 anymore. Meanwhile, here are a Pencil and Inks cover to a NUMBER 1 ISSUE Marvel Title for just over $200 COMBINED!!! And lastly... where my UK comic art fans at? Strontium Dog #11 COVER by Jim Fern currently at $14.05 http://www.ebay.com/itm/202038233506?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 FOURTEEN DOLLARS AND FIVE CENTS!!! I mean come on. Are you really going to let this go for under twenty bucks?!?! COME ON SNIPES!!! ... (I'm secretly hoping Wesley Snipes wins all of these just so I can use that phrase in the best way ever) Duane
  6. Yeah, it's shocking really. I do wish more people put in actual bids early on since it seems that items with bids over $50 or so are the one's that get featured on CAF's ebay page... which I check daily.
  7. Tell me about it! This might be it for ebay for me. The rest of the stuff I sell will likely be privately, or one of the bigger auction houses.
  8. Ok, so I am going through a bit of a existential collecting crisis and am battling with myself to unload a lot of my collection. I haven't sold on EBAY for years, but have thrown up some pages tonight with no reserve and starting at a penny, just to get the selling ball rolling. Ease into it. Here is the link to the auctions. https://www.ebay.com/sch/dumur/m.html?item=202038233506&hash=item2f0a6ac9a2%3Ag%3AHw0AAOSwhLJZo17b&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Take a look and feel free to bid.
  9. If I weren't in the middle of a big move during the time you were coming, i would invite you over (or to a nearby cafe) and you could look at my collection and talk art...

    HAKE'S

Yes. THIS. I find the invoicing confusing. I didn't even realize there was a check option to save 3%.

    HAKE'S

Ah, thank you for the clarification. Good ot know for the future and hey... I won an item I wanted, so I'm happy. I hope you it grows as an auction house as I appreciate healthy competition and would love another viable option for consigning.

    HAKE'S

Yeah, and it looks like time gets added if bids continue? Like I said, I won completely by mistake.
  13. Dumur

    HAKE'S

Ah... maybe that is how my high bid was exactly the winning bid. That someone outbid me, but not by more than 10% and so I won it on my max bid. That is a weird system though.

    HAKE'S

So it's a bunch of Giclee's, a fake JSC prelim and what looks like an actual Kirby Cap page... I'm so confused.

But then there is this: https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/54113333_original-art-by-jack-kirby-from-captain-america-no-204 I don't understand. This is all crazy to me and why did I not know about this until now?!?!?

Okay, I didn't even know about this Live Auctioneers thing. I just went there to check it out now. Now THAT is sketchy.
  18. Saw the post re: Comic Connect and how various auction houses handle different auctions and the climb to be the third auction house of a possible Big 3. Well, I think I just won something at Hake's. A couple things. 1. I didn't know I won. I never got an email notification. I just remembered I put in a bid on something and just went to the site to check on it and I am pretty sure I won. 2. It isn't clear to me how I check out and pay for the item. I am assuming I will receive an email at some point instructing me how. 3. When I look at the final total I owe, a couple things make me curious. Firstly, the amount I won it for was the EXACT amount I bid. That's rare. Secondly, there is an 18% buyers premium added on that they did not make obvious when I was bidding (unlike Heritage which not only informs you, but let's you know the total with the BP or Comic Link which ONLY has a BP if you pay by credit card... and a small one at that) 4. Also not easy to navigate. I kind of found and won the piece by accident. The good news is, though not positive, I do think the piece would have likely gone for more on CLink or Heritage, so I am willing to deal with the hiccups for what I think is a bit of a "deal". So I am just wondering, does a place like Hake's even considered on par with Comic Connect or would they be an even further "step below"?
  19. First auction I am not following in a long time, due to not having interest in a single piece. There is kind of a peace that comes with that.
  20. Also, what is this "Extended Bidding" stuff that keeps happening? Is it to prevent snipes? I've put in two last second bids only to see the bid time increase by three minutes each time. It's weird. WIth the live Heritage auction I get it, but in this case where it's more like ComicLink, I find it weird. Good to know for future bidding though.
  21. Is there any possibility to there being a "Jon Berk provenance" premium on these auctions. Admittedly, the majority of the stuff I am even looking at is in the low end of this collection, but the pieces I am watching are already at twice what dealers have similar pieces listed at.
  22. I went from Crazy to Moderately and I would say I could slip into casually interested very easily. I'm expecting my first baby in two weeks, so that could be a big part of it, but it's also, as Gene says, I am pretty happy with my collection and the few pieces out there that I really want are either in permanent collections or are priced beyond what I want to pay. I could see myself continuing to buy just as easily as snapping and sending 90% off to Heritage to be auctioned. My feelings change daily. Of course, there are a solid 3-5 pieces out there that I have no idea where they are and if they ever surfaced..,. well... that could be trouble.
  23. Berkley Breathed book art This isn't a comic art question per se, but I feel maybe some people on these boards have interest and info outside of comic book OA. I know that Breathed Opus and Bloom County art is out there, but does anyone know if any of his book art has ever either hit the market or someone's collection personally? Specifically his art from "Red Ranger Came Calling?" book?
  24. Just did a quick eye test of my collection. I would say it is about 1/3 nostalgia, 1/3 image appreciation and 1/3 personal relationship to artist.
