  1. You might have missed the reprinting of that story in Gold Key's Christmas Parade back in the sixties. But having the original in nice condition is much better. I had a copy of the Christmas Tree story for a long time but never purchased the original until last year. When I read the story again, I was suprised to see that the witch from Donald Duck 26 (Trick or Treat) was in the story. And it was a wonderful story which should be no suprise since it was written by Barks. My little brother was especially fond of the Gold Key reprints of Christmas Parade 1 and 2 which I still have but I had to buy new copies since he wrecked the originals. But at least he read them...
  2. That issue has to be on my Want LIst. Terrific colors on that copy.
  3. Here are some scifi comics I like and some EC scifi comics I like. Love the Cole covers and the "Destination Moon" movie issue. I also have a "When Worlds Collide" movie issue in NM but forgot to dig it out.
  4. In case someone doesn't know what a Jeep is...
  5. Shifter on the right side means it was an Indian. Beautiful Schomburg art.
  6. I am a big fan of Popeye but mostly because of the CKLW TV show that broadcast the cartoons in the late fifties. I didn't discover the real Popeye until I read reprints of Segar's work. Photo is from Click I think.
  7. I had talked to Don a couple of times and remember reading interviews which said that he was happy to do work on Scrooge and Donald. It was his life's work. However, I had also read comments that said Barks liked one of the other artists better. This was an unfair comment to read. Rosa wrote and drew terrific stories which were as good as Barks originals. His style gave you the feeling you were reading a Mad parody of Donald Duck but the stories never made that crossover into the rediculous. He always had a sound scientific base from where his ideas started and then he became creative with his extrapolations. I am still a big fan of his stories and think they are the only modern ones that deserve to be mentioned in a golden age forum on Ducks.
  8. Are there any Kuttner collections available? I would like to catch up on his stories.
  9. I thought I had seen most of those Brundage covers but I guess there are always a few. Did she do any interior art and are any of the originals still available?
  10. I don't remember telling anyone these were for sale but since you asked in a PM I thought I would post a few pages with covers. It is a pretty good comic and not just about the air force.
  11. Looks like you've been pawing through my collection. Jack (the prime stuff) I just added that photo cause my wireless keyboard went dead and I didn't have any fresh batteries. I have purchased three copies of the WDCS with the Mad Chemist story but only one has a cover. Those early DD stories are fun to read in any condition.
  12. I recently saw an auction of Untamed Love and was struck by the *spoon*-y ness of the cover... a great book! I like those Quality comics. Here are some of mine. I am particularly fond of the Clock motorcycle cover. Thanks Mr. Anderson.
  13. Looks like you've been pawing through my collection. Jack (the prime stuff)
  14. This fits into the "What If John Waters Made a Wonder Woman Movie" category. Miss Divine drawing by Jim Rugg which made me chuckle and I had to share.
  15. How about an interior splash. Spy Smasher had a short but exciting run.
  16. Was that the infamous Robert Blake as little Beaver? Another BB gone bad...
  17. Great drawing. Do you have any more illustrations from that play? I was a dues paying member of the Herpetological Society when I was a kid and I'm a still a big fan. Which do you like best? Snakes, lizards or amphibians? One of my favorite movies was the "Freshman" which featured a Komodo dragon. Not sure if I would have wanted to carry one as they did in the movie and risk being bitten (like Sharon Stone's husband). Perhaps it was just a giant monitor lizard in the movie which may be safer. I think I prefer stories about Dragons, like those written by Anne McCaffrey but I did enjoy the Mister Toad cartoon by Disney.
  18. I like that Captain Science cover too. I fits in there with the Avons.
  19. I have never been able to buy enough Red Ryder comics but I like em, you betcha. Fred Harman's Sunday pages were spectacular. I think I only have one intact.
  20. Great story. I think I purchased a Superman 25 recently but never bothered to take it out of the wrapper. I will have to dig it out now and enjoy it again.
  21. Schomburg did some great covers for Harvey. I like that one too.
  22. That was the first Donald Duck book but I think it is harder to find the second with a dust cover. Scans are mine but the linen book is chopped off because it is too large to fit on the scanner.
  23. Pretty cool BZ. I think Barks also wrote a few stories about collecting. Uncle Scrooge 5 and Four Color 422 come to mind.
