  1. Super-American was another brief hero in briefs. Found this issue in the discount box at Bob Horn's shop. I would like another in better condition but the price was more than fair.
  2. Sure Dan, as long as you're willing to also accept the rest of the herd, for example: I noticed Cooper conserved on his efforts by reusing panels to make covers. Panel is from Blue Ribbon 9.
  3. BangZoom, I was marvelling at the quality of your book, and recalled I had one. I checked and found out, well uh not really, as I have the Grosset and Dunlap edition. I then went way way back and read pages 1 to 77 of this thread and found out about the collection of a thousand or so rare high grade COMIC books you purchased back in 1973. Now I just have to read about 1400 more pages to completely catch up. Thanks for sharing. (thumbs u Tarzan was reprinted many times. I only have the Burt editions (first USA). and I don't have the original dust cover.
  4. This is a few days late but I picked up another ERB Argosy with a cover I really like.
  5. Occasionally I like to post this drawing that Don Rosa made for me. Love the car and Donald's expression.
  6. I love Frazetta's work but I don't think he did enough comic book art to justify placing him at the top. Lou Fine has more work but I haven't figured out who to drop in order to put him on the list. And Powell did a massive amount of work but should I knock out Palais for him? (I like most of the artists that have been listed but it is hard to decide who are the top ten. 1/. Matt Baker 2/. Jack Cole 3/. Joe Shuster 4/. Will Eisner 5/. Bob Fuje 6/. Basil Wolverton 7/. Alex Schomburg 8/. Bob Montana 9/. Jack Kirby and Joe Simon 10/. Rudi Palais I would have to work on the list a while to figure out how to include these other guys. Lou Fine Bob Powell Syd Shores Ogden Whitney)

  8. It's a great book and I think Spielberg used this scene for Jaws.
  9. I think I purchased some of those Fairy Tale comics with a few superheroes but they may be the best books of the lot.
  10. Pogo's creator Walt Kelly. Borrowed from Jake Parker
  11. Printer proofs for the Barks fc 147 story look pretty nice. Better than xerox copies I think. And it is an appropriate page for those of us living on the east coast.
  12. I just sold my Wings run to Gator. There is some really great art in there, really great! I like the Wings series but more for the planes than the good girl art. Walker's art is especially nice and the stories are creative. By the way, did you see the ads for Tin Tin? There is big money (and names)behind filming an adventure strip with no costume superheroes.
  13. very nice copy - now I want to read it! I have three or four issues but this scan is from GAC.UK
  14. Thanks for posting Scrooge. Those full size pages are great.
  15. I think I have this photo in a book but I borrowed the scan from Michael Vance.
  16. I was a regular reader of Prince Valiant in the sixties when FB 26 was on everyone's grail list.
  17. It's silver age but probably the first Kirby story I ever read and still a favorite.
  18. I'm thinking Kirby's birthday party with all of his comic fans would look like like this scene from Boy's Ranch.
  19. I don't know who owns the art or made the scan but it is my Kirby. I enjoyed all of that scifi stuff he did.
  20. Congrats! The interior of that book is as good as the cover. One of my favorites. Unfortunately, all I have is the reprint but I enjoyed the story with all of those characters ganging up on Hitler.
  21. I wondered what kind of car was in this Baker illustration. Could the cover be inspired by a Pierce Arrow ad? The car looks like a British MG TD which had suicide doors and a spare on back.
