  1. Beautiful copy there. I read the reprint a long time ago and finally picked up an original last year. I am still missing 9, 29 and 62. I have come close to buying Frozen Gold a couple of time but usually out bid by pennies. FC 9 and 29 seem to maintain their high price and I may just have to be content with the many reprints of those stories. I read 29 back in the sixties and enjoyed it a lot but never thought I needed to pick up an original until I had almost finished the run. BB
  2. I think most of these have been shown so here is my group shot again.
  3. I love the covers. Here's another. Four Color #88 (September 1945) Uh oh! There's another Bugs I will have to get. I already have the Porky issue.
  4. I like those early Bugs and Porky stories. The Dreadful Dragon story is a little unusual isn't it. Is it written by Armstrong as well? Here is a bunch that I didn't get from Wally.
  5. I never really noticed that trend. Here are a few more examples I have in my collection. Those are really nice covers. They look a little art deco when all together. I saw someone selling La Paree T-shirts on line.
  6. I have issues of all of those titles but the Pep. They aren't very risque. I prefer the Eyeopener cartoons.
  7. Let's break the barrier by having lunch at the next Chicago con. The freedom fries are on me. They called them Belgian fries in Belgium or just pommes frites. It was the only time that they were adamant about not being French.
  8. I think that is original art by Dan Gormley or Chad Grothkopf and it was probably in a coloring book but I keep hoping I will find it on a Howdy Doody back cover. Does anyone have a copy of Howdy Doody's Circus?
  9. Nice! I've just started thinking about collecting the Australian versions of these giveaways. At the moment I'm not even sure how many there are. The documentation of Australian comics is nowhere near as good as American ones. Am I right in saying there were 32 of these; 1-8 of A, B, C and D series? I think the local versions were numbered sequentially, so I'm guessing 1 - 32. I have a few Wheaties giveaways.
  10. I think I have two copies of LTMM 45. I picked up some of these recently. The EC complements the one I got from Bill which was in terrific condition but some of these are a little beat. However, they are all fun.
  11. Good piece of history Scrooge. The Typhoon didn't perform as well as the Spitfire or the P51B Mustang, but with a load of rockets or bombs, it caused a lot of damage.
  12. I think that story was also in Harvey DT 140. The Yogee Yamma storyline was heavily condensed in Four Color #96. They edited the entire story down to only 8 pages. I wonder if D ick Tracy #140 ran a less edited version? I have both issues and will have to compare. Apparently, DT 139 and 140 tell the story of the Yogi and the Professor. The Yogi gets torched in his final scene which is edited in the Harvey issue. However, the two Harvey issue have the complete story while the Four Color issue only tells the second half.
  13. I have found that particular issue hard to resist. I also like Donald Duck 54 but unfortunately I have only found one copy.
  14. I think that story was also in Harvey DT 140.
  15. I think my copy is a US comic. Haven't checked recently.
  16. Now that's one I've never seen before! I have never had a copy of that one. I always wondered whether the stories were reprinted in a larger format, such as The Texan 13 or 14.
  17. That must have been tough to put together. Which are the rarest issues?
  18. I don't see a similarity in styles between Fradon and Pat but I also couldn't recognize early Kubert art. bb
  19. SA was a pretty flashy hero but he couldn't compete with some of the other heroes that were lurking around the Fiction House hallways.
  20. I think the Fight 15 splash scan is from GAC.UK.
