  1. Pun? Orange Skies Jack Thanks for the music bit Jack. I had to reinstall Windows (I needed to clean up files anyway) to get my sound card to work again. I probably lost a few important favorite websites but hopefully no other damage. The comic files are on the external hard drive. It is nice to have but I think I might need a new comic Reader now. bb
  2. I love the green used in the "Sub-Mariner" title. Everett seemed to use a variety of logo colors. Perhaps this represented the cuttlefish superpower that the Sub-mariner seldom demonstrated in his stories. bb Heritage scans I think from MMC 18,23 and 17
  3. The Flame had an amazing recovery before the story ended. bb
  4. I thought the origin story for Flame-Girl in WW 30 was interesting. She was a good-looking sidekick. bb But there were a lot of strange looking covers and splash panels published by Fox. And I thought that this story looked Weird until I saw a real cuttlefish. They can change colors and shape as well as blink like a neon sign. Amazing. The story doesn't do the monster justice. I think we need a gif to show what the monster really looked like.
  5. Doctor Drool -- HAW! There's a name to strike terror into your heart. Jack "I must unleash .... THE COSMIC BIB!" Sounds pretty scary! Here is another Gremlin cover for you Jack. bb
  6. I liked this orange Sensation 65 cover but the thread seems to have disappeared. I purchased this from Lem at Golden Eagle (erasure at top as is). He was a pretty good guy and always helpful. I think Wally used to trade with Lem before he sold me the rest of his collection which also included this SA 24. bb
  7. And I think Dr. Drool had to be one of the better villians. He was always being rescued from graveyards. bb
  8. The addition of Flamegirl helped to make it interesting. bb
  9. I had an extra Wonderworld cover that I don't think I have posted before. Fox comics were great and the flame had some great art and some strange art. bb
  10. BZ, Thanks for the info on Feiffer. I still have my original copy of the "Great Comic Book Heroes" that was given to me as a present by a friend. I found another at a flea market a few years ago. I enjoyed the book very much. I think most fans 16 and over were familiar with his work from playboy before he published the book. I have since read other books that he has illustrated for children like "Phantom toll booth" and seen movies for which he had written screen plays like "Little Murders" and "Carnal Knowledge". bb
  11. I found the early western pulps had some interesting characters and a few good ads. bb 1934 1935 1940
  12. And I like the map they have for sale. bb
  13. It should be counted. Maybe you paste the helmut back on Buck. bb I noticed this color version on sale at Heritage. It looks fantastic. bb
  14. Beautiful Marvel Mystery Comics BZ. Do you have a copy of MMC 28? I thought the colors were great on that cover. By the way, I also found a Batman cover (on ebay) where he is riding a Harley with a Bat sign on the front fender. There are a few other Batman covers with motorcycles but I wouldn't guess what the artist was trying to draw unless I saw the shifter on the side of the gas tank. And Capt. Flag usually took his Indian motorcycle from someone else. Maybe they all ended up in the lost and found. bb
  15. It looks pretty good. The machine reminds me of the War of the Worlds. Lots of tenacles and big boots for stomping is always impressive. And it is orange. bb Is that the authors real name. Manly Wade ... He would have to be a lumberjack or play football with a name like that I think..
  16. The origin from Black Rider 10 looked pretty good too. Scan from a forgotten source. bb
  17. I went to the Harley Cycle week at the fairgrounds in York. They usually let you ride their bikes on a five mile circuit. I tried out a couple of bikes while I was there. I liked the smooth ride of the Heritage Softtail but they are not as nimble as the lighter weight Japanese bikes. I don't think I would want to try the suicide shifter WWII bikes even if they had one. bb
  18. I don't think I have seen a steam powered motorcycle before but I did see a jet powered cycle. I think Jay Leno demonstrated how it worked. My uncle used to travel from coast to coast with his wife on the motorcycle. He lived on the edge. Died there too. My wife is not interested in motorcycles. She makes baskets and hooks rugs. She is a big fan of Tasha Tudor who died recently. Tasha Tudor drew wonderful pictures an wrote brilliant childrens books. I will try to find another scan of her work. bb
  19. I think it probably is significant that FF217 had a CCA sticker on the top corner. Is this where the Frazetta Cavemen cover was supposed to be printed? bb
  20. It should be counted. Maybe you paste the helmut back on Buck. bb
  21. The other Uncle Book that isn't in the Uncle Box. bb
  22. Beautiful covers Aardvark. I have this Famous Funnies but it isn't as clean as this scan. We are still missing a couple. bb
  23. I appreciate posting of the second Buck Rogers story. Now I have to find a copy. These scans were posted before on another thread. bb
  24. I did - it's a low grade copy (split cover), but I got it dirt cheap. It's a fun little book. There were reprints made of that premium weren't there. Is there a map too? bb
